Any Filco keycap news? I'm serious and not trolling. I keep hoping they'll announce PBT or Doubleshots and better cable connection, but I'd settle for good blank or lasered key caps.

Hmm I don't really feel like one will get me more wins apart from the keys being more reliable (I've had a couple problems when typing that could lose a game). I'm more interested in a more comfortable typing experience (less force and not bottoming out).

i got another filco tenkeyless for 107 EUR including shipping just last week
the site is completely chinese, but paying with paypal works fine, if you can fill out the order form correctly.
don't bother sending mail to them, they'll just answer with some uncomprehensible machine translated mess.

I actually received my keyboard two days ago!! It will definitely take some getting used to since it is so effortless, I'm bottoming out like crazy. Gaming is much more comfortable, though until I get used to it I'm putting more thinking into just touch typing. Once I get used to the keys though I'll be able to fly. LOVE THIS THING!!!

I'd emailed Brian about my earlier credit card issue (just out of concern about possibly being charged twice). He said I was at the top of the backorder list (I ordered on Oct. 12th), and since I'd waited so long he went ahead and shipped me one out of "repair stock" (stock kept in-house to replace DOA and returned faulty keyboards) since they had a confirmed order for the Nov. 10th. He said they hadn't actually received the shipment they'd expected on Oct. 30th. Those Koreans and their SC2 obsession must be sucking up all the stock around the world.

Just got mine. Typing on it is dreamy. It's smaller than I expected, which is fine because I like the small form factor aspect. It makes me feel that a HHKB might be too small.

Delivery from SoCal to me in Portland was a speedy day and a half.

I received my confirmation email on the 15th, but the shipping notification happened on the 13th. I ordered just before the price hike (lucky~~) and am hoping to receive it soon. I am in Canada, so who knows how long it'll take.

Gotta figure out if I can pull the Esc key with my bare hands (didn't buy a puller) but other than that I'm loving it so far.

I forgot to get a puller with mine, and tugged it out with a paper clip bent into a flat U shape.

They did restock. I had one backordered about 1.5 weeks before the restock on Nov 10th. It's just that the few from the new batch that weren't already backordered got bought up real quick. I'm sure with such a hot product, EKB is definitely going to restock soon. I think they are probably just trying to gauge demand for their next order.

Woops i just noticed i forgot to the "otaku" part in my pervious post. I'm looking for the the otaku tenkeyless brown.

I noticed they dont have it listed in their products section anymore.

You can still find its product page by googling for it but both the otaku version and the blank keycaps are no longer available for purchase.

I sent them an email to ask when the "otaku" versions would be back in stock, and their response was that it's a limited edition keyboard that they only order a couple times a year. The next availability is supposed to be in early 2011.

I ended up using some floss to swap out my Esc key, as well as swap my win/alt keys to make it feel like a proper Mac keyboard. Now it's juuust right

Thanks for the info! Kinda funny i finally decide what keyboard i want and its no longer available! I may just end up ordering some blank filco caps from australia and a regular tenkeyless brown from elitekeyboards.

Welcome to GeekHack and I am in the same boat (though I got my order in a few weeks ago, when I got my job offer letter for work next term). I wish you all the luck you'd need, finding the KB. Try ArmyGroup before you go for EliteKeyBoards since EKB doesn't have stock at the moment and I suspect it's a bit cheaper via AG. I ordered from EKB before I found out about AG. AG also has a set of Otaku keys if you are into that kind of thing (I am, so guess what I bought from AG).

I ordered a set of otaku caps and got an email confirming the payment was received and warning me that I would receive another notification as soon as it ships. This was last Friday, order placed Thursday.

I get the strong sense that Filco stocks are stressed everywhere (thanks Starcraft 2!), and that Diatec/Filco are replenishing their big customers first, which leaves EKB waiting indefinitely. That would explain the removal of the ETAs/listings, which up to this point were really accurate.

It's a shame, really. Maybe EKB can pick up some Duckys? Jumping through the hoops of ordering through the Taiwanese websites just isn't something that most people will do.

Nah, in the long term, it can only be good for Filco/Unicomp. The more people start to see good keyboards as an investment in a good tool, the better, and having more mechanical keyboards out there is only a good thing. I'm glad it's all mechanical keyboards that are being sold out and not just ones by Razer tbh.
