Funny map - I thought the world revolved around the USA?  I keep clicking my city and nothing happens!

Lol, pretty typical for a map made in Japan to be centered around Japan.

I take requests for making keyboard converters (i.e. *old keyboard* to USB).

I wonder why they only do 1 distributor per country?

I got SUPER lucky and the only one in all of Australia is less than 20 minutes drive from me. Then again they have free nationwide shipping anyway.

That would require Ripster to actually do some work...

Kinda reminds of the (bad) joke...

Why do farmers f*ck sheep on the edge of a cliff?

So they push back.

Stop whinning and jump in to become the exclusive US-distributor:

Started reading geekhack last month and after reading up a bit, I became interested in getting a Filco black axis 10 keyless, but prefer to avoid the trouble of ordering from an overseas company.  So I emailed Diatec and...drum roll...they said they are working on a new distribution system for the US and Canada, and hope to announce details in early January.  I guess the bad part is that it's about mid January and no announcement yet.  But alas, it has given me some hope!

'tis business. It's a real shame though, EK puts a lot of effort in customer support and the like.

I am not confident that whoever Diatec picks as a replacement distributor will be able to live up to that standard.

I think that might be ripster's point.  EK may have been dropped so Diatec could distribute in the US market themselves.

Well, hopefully the majority of this community can stay loyal to EK and start buying the Leopold branded keyboards once they are available through him.  I love my Archiss much more then the Filcos I owned if, for no other reason, because of the removable USB cable.

I like to support the US-based resources we have here...if, for no other reason, to do my little part in keeping them around.  I periodically buy from EK and Unicomp...even when I don't really need anything from them.  Most of the time turning items around to other GH members.

I wouldn't worry about that.  If anything, EK is going to get a huge influx of retail dollars as the Leopolds come in.  I know he's going to get some from me.  If the Ducky episode showed anything, GHers will throw money in large amounts at newly available product.  Other than short-term revenue, I think switching over to Leopold is going to be a boon for EK, especially if the product is of better quality.
