I was reading one news story on this... it criticized him for duping the TV networks into interrupting their programming to carry his announcement, because they innocently thought he would be talking about something important, like the new director of the CIA.

The fact that Donald Trump has been harping on this nonsense reminded me of his earlier claim to infamy, by noting that it was "economically irrational" to send such a productive person as Mike Tyson to jail just because he was convicted of rape. A very odd scale of values this fellow has...

Someone, here, wrote:

US is a country of immigrants everyone that is an American citizen, can be called as an American.

So why in the hell should matter where an elected American citizen was born ?

P.S. I know this is the actual law, I'm just thinking is a stupid law.

It was put in the US constitution to foil British imperialists, which was an actual concern at the time. There are lots of other things that are outdated that were originally in the constitution but have since been removed or changed (e.g. stuff relating to slavery). But the legal process that is required to change the constitution is a fairly steep hill to climb (intentionally), so nobody's ever gotten around to changing that particular part because it's never been a big priority.

It's not simply a matter of where they are born. The law is there to prevent someone who has a personal loyalty to another country from becoming president of the US. However, a "natural born citizen" just needs on of their two parents to be an American citizen, OR they need to be born within the borders of the US. It's an either or kind of thing. The only way Obama is not a natural born citizen is if neither of his parents were US citizens, and he was born outside of the US.

the people that thought (still think) that he was not born in the US say it, because they just don't want a black president, or they really do not know that Hawaii is a state, and I'm not joking I saw one of those jay-walking clips and it was someone asking random ppl on the street which of the three is a state
Puerto rico
alaska
hawaii

(cuz they aren't part of the 48)
and like half of them only said alaska.

His approval ratings are actually high compared to historic norms considering the unemployment rate. In other words, most presidents with similar unemployment numbers had lower approval rates. And polling puts him well ahead of all the likely Republican candidates (though they're a pretty sorry lot).

Obama's approval ratings blow.
Which means they don't have to resort to silliness to get him out of the White House. Really.

When he got elected, it was practically a "perfect storm". Before the election, some media outlets speculated about the "unthinkable" - how, if there were another 9/11 before the election, it could lead to a McCain landslide - because McCain took a stronger position with respect to U.S. national security issues, such as being against early withdrawal from Iraq or Afghanistan.

But we all know what happened. The stock market crashed just before the election. And Democrats are the party traditionally perceived as being more concerned with jobs and the economy. And then McCain went and helped - by obstructing President Bush's efforts to contain the damage of the stock market crash, and by making remarks about how the economy was "fundamentally sound" that brought back memories of Herbert Hoover.

Despite this, Obama did not win in a landslide. In fact, exit polls reported after election showed that more white voters voted for McCain than for Obama.

So even under just about the best possible circumstances, Obama just squeaked into the White House.

So far, however, despite this, we do not have an inspiring slate of Republican candidates. Mike Huckabee? Ron Paul? Rick Santorum? Donald Trump? Even Sarah Palin is, I'm sorry, too far out for me, even though she initially seemed like a breath of fresh air. There is Mitt Romney, though. Will a five-way split in the lunatic fringe vote be enough to allow him to sneak through in the Republican primaries?

or they really do not know that Hawaii is a state,
I didn't know that Obama was only born in 1961, after Hawaiian statehood took place, but then that shouldn't matter if John McCain, born in the Panama Canal Zone, is allowed to be President.

(Hawai'i became the 50th state on August 21, 1959; Barack Hussein Obama II was born on August 4th, 1961 at 7:24 PM, local time.)

There isn't a perfect correlation between unemployment and disapproval, but you can see by historical standards, he's not doing badly.

Irrelevant, given that non-whites make up a significant portion of the voting population. You might as well say that Obama won by a large margin among Women, and therefore he won easily.

He won by 7%. That's not really that close. W's margins were MUCH smaller in both of his victories (he lost the popular vote in 2000). Clinton's margin was smaller in 1992 and only a little bigger in 1996, and he didn't get a majority of the popular vote in either (both were affected by the Ross Perot candidacy).

McCain was even more of a pushover than Obama. The media just tried to portray him as a hardass. Every major candidate for the last 20 years has been a mediocre Republocrat. Despite what you have been lead to believe, there's very little difference between Obama and Bush.

Now that I know Obama was born in the USA, I can get onto creating jobs, wean America off it's dependence on oil, and end our 2 (or is it 3 now?) wars.

Not knowing stopped me and other Americans from doing so many things. Today is truly a proud day to be American.

Everyone who has voted for Obama has felt duped, thinking "wow we actually let this guy trick us... thought we were gonna get change" from him saying gitmo(sp) should be closed, then when he's the boss he goes, "oh wow we really can't close it" and who knew when he said bi-partisan it really meant, "I will bend over backwards for any republican so that I can have money to run my 2012 campaign". He's not trying to be a president, he's just trying to get re-elected... and sadly he'll get re-elected, there will not be another democratic nomination other than Obama, it just will not be done, and against who? Trump? who's leading in the polls (which don't mean anything) Obama is just gonna get re-elected by default cuz the other choice is just too stupid, oh and i'm a republican too, even I can see putting a repub as president would be taking 12 years (steps) back.

On a side note, I am still amazed at how many people think Hawaii is a foreign country.  I especially like telling people on the 'mainland' that it was a long ass drive to get to the states from Hawaii (or sometimes I tell em I came over on a canoe).

On this one, Alex Jones is a complete idiot ..
Seriously, ATM Obama IS the US Government, THEY made the paper, chose the type-face and what not ..
And you seriously think they are so stupid that they forge their own documents in a way that Alex Jones can 'reveal' in seconds ?
He didn't even have to examine the original document for ****s Sake, he established it as a fake from a Goddamn PDF, made with one of adobes crappy products !!

I have a 5MB jpeg of the document embedded in the PDF, that's what they released to the press !
(Jesus ****ing Christ, they are such NOOBS, who The Hell uses pdf's for stuff like this ?
HINT : Probably the same idiots who post their power-points on Al Goretex's Internets ! )

Anyway, when you open the jpeg file in a HEX-editor, this is the first line :
Quote
Adobe Photoshop CS4 Windows
OMFG, It's PHOTOSHOPPED ..
Actually, if I enlarge it enough I can see THE PIXELS !!!!
I suggest you go ask Alex if he even knows what a HEX-editor is !

Anyway, you try and set your scanner to 300x300DPI, scan something printed on security paper, optimize the scan and save it as a PDF !
EXACTLY the same layering will happen, it's caused by a thing called 'OCR' ..

Alex Jones is a complete moron, if he doesn't admit he's WRONG on this you should NEVER again listen to ANYTHING he says !
INCLUDING ALL THE THINGS HE IS RIGHT ABOUT !!

Uncle Toms Cabin isn't a physical location, it's a State of Mind ...
No matter how you look at it, Zbigniew and Henry K preferred Obama over Hillary or that Old Guy with all the dead friends .
Nothing has actually changed, it's STILL The WHITE House !

(OK, ONE thing HAS changed.. To the better :
The current POTUS can talk for 30 seconds or more without people with just half a brain wanting to blow it out ..)

But there you are. They shouldn't have turned "optimize" on, or they should have saved it as a .JPG first and then put it in a PDF later!!! I mean, if they're going to all this trouble, they might as well not do things that make it look like it might have been a digital forgery.

I recently got a document scanner, and it generates PDF files with layers exactly like this and does OCR automatically. It lets the software use different resolutions and compression algorithms for different parts of the image depending on the type of content (it's called mixed raster content). This actually saves a lot of space, and for a government institution that's archiving millions of documents, it makes a tremendous difference. No big mystery here, it just gives some insight into the type of system the Hawaiian state government used when they digitized their vital records years ago.

And, come to think of it, since what was scanned and put in the PDF was a crude photocopy of the original, a high-resolution photograph that would show that the photocopy was real wouldn't help much - it would be obvious misdirection! So if it didn't look fake, that would be proof of fakery!

No, they're going to have to go to the original copy, and photograph it in full color under a microscope, so we can see the weave of the paper and the weave of the typewriter ribbon!!

This reminds me of how the Weekly World News billed itself as the "most reliable news source"; and, in a way, it was. Mainstream news sources might accidentally tell the truth once in a while, but you could depend on the accuracy value of the contents of the Weekly World News being consistent.

WRONG, the two issues have NOTHING to do with each other .
9-11 WAS 'a contained explosion',  the photo- and video-graphic evidence proves it ..
So do the dust-samples that have actually been tested for explosives-traces .
Neither The 9-11 Commission nor NIST tested ANY remains from WTC for explosives.

I thought I was the only one.

33,064 posts kinda tells me that you havent had time to read either The 9-11 Commission Report
OR NIST's final report on the collapses . You probably haven't looked at thousands of high-res images of the so-called 'collapses' either OR
the many videos of the so-called 'collapses' .

Quote
12. Did the NIST investigation look for evidence of the WTC towers being brought down by controlled demolition? Was the steel tested for explosives or thermite residues? The combination of thermite and sulfur (called thermate) "slices through steel like a hot knife through butter."
Answer : NIST did not test for the residue of these compounds in the steel.

Well, Guess what ? SOMEBODY ELSE DID !! AND THEY FOUND IT !!
Who are YOU going to believe, people WHO HAVEN'T LOOKED FOR SOMETHING and therefore say it wasn't there OR
PEOPLE WHO DID LOOK FOR IT, FOUND IT and therefore says it WAS THERE ??
NIST DIDN'T EVEN RUN A TEST ON THE DUST FFS !!!!  They are therefore not entitled to even have an 'opinion' on the matter !!

Now who's the 'internet-whacko' and who's the dude just running with unsubstantiated opinion ?

WRONG, the two issues have NOTHING to do with each other .
9-11 WAS 'a contained explosion',  the photo- and video-graphic evidence proves it ..

So do the dust-samples that have actually been tested for explosives-traces .
Neither The 9-11 Commission nor NIST tested ANY remains from WTC for explosives.
PS : It doesn't really matter where Obama was born, Kenya or Hawaii, he is STILL a puppet for Henry K, Zbigniew B and whoever owns those guys !
Isn't this how they are related... the idiots that are birthers are just plain idiots and if they believe that are probably dumb enough to believe in the contain explosion as well, it's basically idiots by association.

Ever wonder why McCain didn't win?
Nope.

Before that election, some columnists dared to speak the "unthinkable": if there had been another attack like 9/11 just before the election, McCain would win in a landslide.

Remember what did happen just before the election? A stock market crash.

The Democrats are the party of unions, of protectionism, of jobs and the economy. So the same kind of perfect storm happened, just in the other direction.

And McCain even helped matters along. He initially obstructed G. W. Bush's efforts to contain the damage of the crash and prevent another Depression, until he got enough pork for his own state. He remarked how the economy was "fundamentally sound", echoing a phrase used by Herbert Hoover.

When the stock market crashes, the American people don't want a Hoover, they want a Roosevelt!

And yet it wasn't a landslide. Obama just squeaked through.

I don't think, incidentally, that the timing of this was for political advantage. Why stop an idiot like Donald Trump from becoming the Republican candidate now, when that just means the Republican Party has a chance to pick somebody better?

7% is a significant margin; it's by no means "squeaking through". And he was leading in the polls before the market tanked (and lest you discount the polls, the last polls before election night did peg the margin pretty closely in aggregate). There just aren't that many swing voters in most elections, and most voters were pretty well decided months ahead of time. Team Obama also had a much better turn-out machine, and he was put over the line by record turn-out among normally poorly performing groups like African Americans and younger voters.

To reduce the election down to a single event which is absurdly reductionist. I haven't seen any evidence that suggests it swung public opinion more than a point or two (and even that seems generous).
