I don't like Obama but if Bachmann were the only opposing candidate I'd go campagign for him (Obama).

Actually it was a tie between Bachmann and Ron Paul, but the corporate media ignores him as usual.

Who is Barbara Bachmann?  Why do you keep screwing her name up on purpose?  If you have a contest to run on principles, by all means let's hear it, otherwise picking on people's names is well, about as silly as people picking on Obama's middle name.  Then again, I expect such nonsense from the side that has no clear answers or goals other than confiscate more money from the people actually working right now to blow on God knows what.

That's because he ignores Bachmann, and secretly promotes Paul by creating threads like this.

I'm secretly pulling for Ron Paul, too... in public I pay tribute to Obama so that the Black Panthers don't club me.

Obama is doing a bus tour through the midwest right now to try to convince folks that he will be able to fix the economy.

The bus alone is costing taxpayers $1.1 million.

Lol.

The black panthers were always a thug organization committing crimes with self-justification. The original pathetic'gangstas'.

I was excited about Obama from when he first popped on the radar, but I'm less than thrilled about most of the centrist positions he's been watered down to, and plain disappointed with the whole congress-president-media circus. Pointless.

Bachman is just another slime, as most high level politicians, and will most likely get washed out pretty soon. I wonder if she gives a good bj? Looking at her 'husband' I would say 'no'.

I vote for this....

Although I'm a Canadian, I followed the previous American election campaign, and had opinions about it.

If I had been an American, I originally would have voted for John McCain, because I opposed Obama's intent to withdraw American troops from Iraq and later from Afghanistan before their job was done.

Right up until the stock market crashed, and John McCain did a Herbert Hoover impression and delayed efforts by G. W. Bush to prevent it from causing a depression.

So I'm thankful Obama "watered down" his positions on Afghanistan and Iraq. It's sort of like I got the best of both candidates.

On the other hand, I think it's unfortunate that Republicans in Congress have prevented him from achieving a health-care plan for all Americans, though - and I wish you could have a simple single-payer plan handled directly by the government, instead of the extremely complicated plan that had to be proposed to have a chance of passing. But that isn't "watering down" on Obama's part, the fault lies elsewhere.

On another note, John McCain is kind of a nut. He does a pretty darn good talk, and I considered him, but he's just too much of an angry guy to put in the White House. Our military would be all over the place had he been elected. At least that's what many Americans believe. We want out of the world police business. If it wasn't for oil, we wouldn't be there at all, and that's just wrong.

I don't think McCain would be overly hawkish as president, and I don't think his temper is a problem.  I was a big McCain fan in 2000 but I just couldn't vote for him in '08.  The waffling and the pandering and the choosing of the Sarah Palin was just too much for me.  I voted for Obama frankly because I just trusted the guy more to make the big decisions.  I could see myself voting for Romney this time around, but my default for now is to stick with Obama.

I was Gore for 2000, anti-W both times on principle, Palin was a permanent deal breaker along with what else you mentioned. I'll stay with Obama if he pulls a nice, healthy rabbit out of his butt and gets some production. There is no republican that gives me a stiffy at this point. All they have done is say anti-Obama, and the same empty-sounding promises we always hear..."I'll do the right thing and make everything good, vote for MEEEE!"

As long as we're taking cheap shots, I bet Rick Perry can tell you how many states are in the United States.
If you'll remember, Obama was foggy on the number.

I bet Perry also knows that, unlike what Obama said, Texas wasn't "historically a Republican state".

But to be honest, just about all politicians, good or bad, sometimes trip over their words. I'm sure you all remember "putting food on your family".

Ron Paul is only in politics to give the illusion of opposition.  Controlled opposition detours rebelling, "There is hope yet, have you heard of Ron Paul?  Ron Paul is nice."  People in politics are hand picked to make it a breeze to select the pre-chosen presidential nominees, how convenient.  Who says we can't have our cake and eat it too?

He is pretty consistent over the years.
Also the fact how the establishment tries to supress him is a good indicator that he is not a controlled opposition..

Sounds similar to how presidents lie and say what the people want to hear but when they get into office, will have the strings pulled.

There are politicians that aren't hand picked?  Amazing, there is hope yet...

Again, never attribute to malice(conspiracy) what can be explained by stupidity.

Are there manipulative evil and powerful people and groups?

Absolutely.

Groups (of people)of any kind by nature become less effective at reaching their stated goals the longer they exist and more people get involved. The interpretation of the stated goals becomes less and less defined the more people there are to interpret it. If there are any corollary personal gains to be gotten from the group through manipulation or deceit, they will always get discovered and exploited by the kinds of people known as politicians today. This has been illustrated over and over throughout history. No group is sacred, and the largest, most likely are the worst for society and the individuals who make up the group.

All this being said, the US government has methods allowing the people to correct these mistakes if they're wise enough to spot the problem practices and the problem people. Unfortunately, blindness to this ability has allowed the politicians to rig the game more and more over the years.

I'm an optimist and believe America can, and possibly will, reign in its bad habits and corrupt policies, but it IS up to the public to systematically question and examine the choices being made by those they send to represent them, on ALL levels from city council to mayor to state rep to congress to president, and to continue to do so FOREVER. That's the way this system works. If you're not willing to put this work in yourself, remember that there are others out there COUNTING on making decisions IN SPITE of you and your interests.

Ripster, I'm with you 100% on doing what is in your own best interest.  The fun things happen when we all have to find common ground on what's in ALL of our best interest.  There's your debate.  The other stuff is just posturing and flufferyisms.
