The world's pretty much doomed.
I don't wanna connect my Facebook to my Twitter to my Youtube to my G-Mail to my shameful Googling for Brazilian Fart Porn. This is just the kind of ****-up compulsory integration that's so describing the 21st century. But my example isn't really accurate. Youtube has been offering these integratory buttons for Twitter and Facebook and whatever for a while now.
There's just no upside for the user. That they actually have the cheek to call it an advantage that you now only have to read one agreement instead of multiple is pretty telling, because that is the only thing you could pull out of your hat to make this sinister move sound respectable in any way. Interconnection of all data mining services. They'll know who YOU are exactly.
I jumped ship, but not to have a Youtube account anymore.. that hurts. You can still try to keep your subscriptions by RSS, but it's not the same. And if you block cookies for Google and Youtube, you'll get these annoying text boxes telling you about language preferences every single time. But it's better than the alternative.
