Why not ?

If for example a member is known to only be participating for profit, and the GB is non-profit for community only, I think it's a valuable choice to exculed this member.

If certain members are causing trouble to the organizer I don't see why not.

In a trades/sales scenario the other member is definitely considered as your customer, group buys on the other hand they aren't really your customer per se, you should not be obliged to serve or provide service to them if there is a justify reason.

Example would be tp4 and Rag in the red on black DS GB, which I thought Rag was right to not serve tp4 as he was quite out of line

It all depends on the infraction. If the infraction is neglected payments or even ditched orders, then I would agree that the GB organizers could decide whether to temporary deny a person access to their group buy(s).
Other than that I don't think anyone should be blacklisted based on how they act. If the person is spending money on gb it benefits all users.

I'm looking forward to seeing what people think.

Don't ban me, bro!

Why interfere with free trade?

There are primary markets and aftermarkets.

You can never predict what will happen in the aftermarket. Believe me, I have learned that the hard way. Prices are more likely to decline than to appreciate, in general. Maybe less so in this forum than in the "real world" but still .....

If the community is getting a cut of the initial sale, then the more initial sales, the better, for the community. If the community needs a greater take, then increase the percentage tariff it receives.

If there is some reason to limit orders to "x" per buyer, then do that.

Otherwise, stop worrying about the aftermarket and whether or not certain people are profiting greatly from earlier investments. You should not arbitrarily put yourself in between a willing seller and a willing buyer.

I am no "capitalistic swine" but I can't help but get the feeling that there is a lot of "sour grapes" emotion here.

"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

So you'd be OK with this to another Geekhacker with no infractions I know of?

So much for the new friendlier Geekhack.

Let's just call it GeekBay from now on.

No infraction that *you* know of?  Would group buyers need to run everything by *you*?

Of course not - I'm not even on the moderator team (too strong a personality)

Did someone who has control who is a mod and who is not a mod say to you that "too strong a personality" is the reason why you are not a mod?

I think you should be a mod.  If you are a mod, then you wouldn't be saying you are not a mod.  Aren't you a mod in your own forum?

Only if they are troublemakers or flakes.

I've only thought about "banning" one person from my GB because I reached out to them numerous times and got ignored every time but the person continued to post and deal on GH. I understand sometimes stuff comes up and you don't even have to tell me what the problem is but a simple "hey I can't pay, sorry" would be great.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

group buys are not different. group buy leaders control their buys, as per imav.

The GH mods focus on the forum rules.  Different types of business transactions happen here.  iMav has made it clear that he doesn't want to get involved with the specifics of any of them.  It's up to the buyers to decide who to trust.  The same is true of the sellers.

the policy has been very clearly relayed to us from imav. the GB moderators are currently working on rewriting the rules post that was rolled back; it should be up again soon.

I have to admit that I didn't even look at the video I posted. Just wanted to see your reaction. It sucked =).

The most controversial answer would be the reaction, but alas it was the video I was referring to =).

And yes, did we figure out what to do about bad seeds in group buys? I was thinking (shockingly enough), is any of the group buy organizers even worried about this?
