Deck/TG3 BL82 keycap full replacement?
« on: Mon, 20 August 2012, 23:51:53 »
So I recently acquired one of these TG3 BL82, and I already know I don't like the stock flat all top row keycap... so I of course want to replace them all with standard sculpted Cherry keycap. Besides the now hard to find Cherry G86-62410EUAGSA ' MX SPOS ' aka 'ricercar spos' is there any other candidates for the non-standard sized keys? The main problem keys are the caps lock (1.25), enter (1.75), backspace and 1 key (1.5). I am usually good about finding these things but am striking out this time it seems.

The BTC 5100 also has some of the keys needed, the enter and backspace specifically. But, they are like SP profile and I would rather not have to resort to that as the keycaps are not quite as nice as anything from Cherry. Having a hard time telling from the picture, but the Wyse WY30 might, can anyone verify size of the enter?

On my WY-30, "return" appears to be exactly 2x

Thanks, I could tell it was smaller than standard, but not if was small enough. I will keep trawling... I guess if I don't care about legends at all, I am set really but having caps lock on enter just makes me feel dead inside. :p

If you look at my WY-30 pictures, "capslock" (next to spacebar, as God intended)) is the same size as enter (2X). CTRL (next to "a" in QWERTY and Dvorak) is slightly smaller, and a much better choice.

I have blank modifiers on my unicomp, and it both looks sharp, and is useful. Have you considered checking out if WASD or SP have the right length and profiles?

I was trying to locate some cheap donor options first. If I can't find anything I will investigate options with qwerkeys then if not possible will maybe resort to SP. I forsee SP not having them 'in stock' and wanting to charge rediculous price even for blank though as usual.
How many other people have this board that would want a keycap set? Maybe a small groupbuy?

So I confirmed that qwerkeys can do them, but they don't keep the nonstandard 1.5 top row and 1.25 caps lock keysizes in stock and have a 100 MOQ, bummer. Somehow I don't think there would be enough interest to get there...

Shouldn't we be more worried about the width than the profile? Reason I ask is because the TG3's all have one profile, flat.

Well the fact they are flat is what I hate so much. I want normal sculpted keycaps.
