Depending on when this happens, I can bring various currently unassembled custom keyboards: KMAC, Mx Mini, The Cheat, and Phantom.  I also have Topre and MX switch testers on hand, though they may be out on tour soon.  I have a SIIG Minitouch with Monterey blues as well and a Kinesis.

YO!
You homie-dogs gonna bust out a meet-n-greet? Slick!
I didn't note that Demik went to Chi-town for some keyboard porn? He'd better show here then too....I'll need to read up and see what made the Chicago such a  hit. Love to meet everyone!

It will be a rare moment I won't be able to do a keyboard party. But depending when, it might be a big problem bringing keyboards though...I don't know if I'll be able to bring anything other than the Alphagrip, RollerMouse, and a Kinesis I need to sell ($100). The split Kinesis is disassembled and packed. As y'all know, it's been a rough 6 months for this guy. But a lot of notice will be helpful.

FYI-
I'm moving/changing jobs again and I don't have a situation squared away....so I'm transitional at this point. Interested in a 30-90 day room rental situation if anyone knows of one. Place to sleep only, no guests, no kitchen, no stuff, no hassle/drama, have a full time job, and I have money. LOL PM if you have info.

Well I have a white Kinesis, without ($100 Essential) or with ($135 Classic) an extra programming chip. To this day I've never heard of anyone using 2 chips (Professional or Pro configuration). I'm kind of in a bad way for cash...maybe we can involve someone to get a 3-4 way trade going that can get us all what we need/want? I really don't need anything...especially since I sold my Datahand during the crisis a few months ago.

I still have an Alphagrip I need to sell and another Kinesis as well...sigh

Are we thinking SF for the meetup?  Oakland may be a bit more centrally located but it has a bad rep. I would volunteer my house but it is too small to host more than a couple of people, and not enough table space.
Sounds like a bar is out but those of us of age can always go out for a few after nerding on keyboards. I'd rather not mix the two :)

Oakland does have a couple of hackerspaces that might work well, if we can get ahold of them to find out about renting some space. Free is always better though, so if anybody has enough space or knows of somewhere we could hang out at, let's hear it!

Rent a space? Nooo way....we can do better than that. Freebie is the way to go. Unless you are thinking over a dozen peeps, then that could be a problem perhaps.

That many people is not the problem, but the keyboards and all the shizz that goes along with "us" does require a sanctioned area for many obvious reasons. Depending on where, that may not be hard to do. I was going to volunteer WASD Keyboards and there is a restaurant across a parking lot from Weyman. But maybe I should call him first...that's a bold move...LOL

HEY
we're not letting this die just because we're a bunch of forgetful cali stoners!

I'm setting a tentative date of next weekend (not this coming one). Place is still TBD but it's a tossup between Oakland and SF. Anybody got a spot to hang or should we start thinking about coffee shops and whatnot?
There's a cool coffee place DT Oakland called Awaken that we can snag snacks and drinks, and they have a bar that serves beer and wine for the less age-challenged of us. My friend works there, I might even be able to have him save the couch area for us to hang out in :)
WASD would be neat - maybe a road trip sometime, but honestly i really do NOT want to hang out in milpitas :P

As long as we do a couple things:

In fact make it a couple times a year
Incorporate 'field trips' (like going to WASD)
Have some 'out of area members' show from a different GH 'chapter'
Meet in places that have females

Yeah, this sounds like a party. I'm not totally sure on Dec. 9th yet, but it's possible. I might have finals though. Not sure, too lazy to check.

Hi guys,

I read through the thread and a bay area meet sounds great! Have you found a location to host it yet? I'm currently renting a house with two of my colleagues and we'd like to host the meet if thats cool.

Our house is in Menlo Park so its a little bit out of the SF and Oakland but its a nice location with plenty of parking and proximity to University Ave (restaurants, bars, etc).

As for dates, december 9th sounds good but its a bit far off. How about we host something between now and then? Does next weekend (22-23) work for everyone?

Three pizzas and a case of beer will be provided.
