Clear Key Cap covers?
« on: Fri, 24 August 2012, 16:15:09 »
I recently came across this image of a custom Noppoo Choc Mini:

I was wondering if any of you know what the Clear protectors on the function keys are. I have never seen them before.

I have looked all over GH and I have not found anything that comes close to this. How does it stay attached to the key?' It looks like its possible to snap on and off.

Just curious..

they are from Cherry branded POS keyboards and called Relegendable keycaps. The tops are removable to put in different paper legends
see here for more info: http://deskthority.net/wiki/Relegendable_key

I think they are from some Cherry old model. Can't remember the specific model though...

Xkeys (PI engineering) will sell you some more. http://www.piengineering.com/accessories/keycaps1.php#
They aren't as nice as the cherry ones in my opinion, though. They do have cylindrical tops though.

Other than Cherry, tipro also did relegendables. I have some, which are nice, but I don't know where you'd got them except off a used/new tipro (check ebay.co.uk, they often have them)

I have some cherry ones on my G80-8113, though there are also ones on the cherry G80-8200 as well.

I believe the 8200 has a few more, as well as a nice 2x one. I really wish they'd combine the two designs to make a keyboard with an extra row of function keys, a full block in the arrowkey section, and the extra two rows east of the tenkey.

I have a few hundred relegendables if you want any of them. All brand new and for sale from my POS board part-outs. I just sold these DS and relegendables to AKIMbO. PM me if you want stuff.

I'm camping for a week, and moving twice in a month. I'll get back to you when I can (If I don't then just send me another PM).
