WTB: UK keyboard <€50
« on: Fri, 31 August 2012, 19:57:17 »
Hi new member here, it's great that a place like this exists.

UK keyboard for <€50?

*I want a UK keyboard with £ key and large enter key
*I want a keyboard with no number pad
*It must cost €50 or less (not strict here)

What are my options?

Thanks in advance

Hi Welcome to GH!

The CM storm Quickfire Rapid is a good choice. High quality at a cheap price. Should be able to buy with Mx Red, Mx Brown or Mx Black in the UK with ISO layout.

Should cost around that £50-£60. Its made by Costar and is thus a quality board and has no numpad, namely Tenkeyless.

You can probably get a used IBM model M for under 50 euro, too.

This looks perfect. The only thing is, I can only find UK retailers selling the brown-coloured version (not the keys, the keyboard itself is brown/grey). I would like the black version displayed on cm storm's site. Know where I can buy the black version? Or any other black tenkeyless keyboards?

The Mx Black, Brown and Blue version of that keyboard is grey. The one with Mx Red is the black board, and its the board I have and I think look nicest and you seem to share my opinion (and it has my favorite switch aswell).

Thats what I found and its the only retailer I know from UK since I dont live there. Theres obviously more retailersites that you can check I guess.
Dont be fooled by those pictures btw. The keyboard doesnt look like that. Rather its a normal ISO UK version of the keyboard with a different enter that you should be used to.

UK layout ones go for more actually. Mine cost £70.

Lot more in the US, actually the euro ones are going up too.

If you want to make it black a few people have done vinyl wraps. Gunmetal aka grey isn't that bad though although I dislike the finish meh.

Also your only other option for black and tenkeyless is a filco currently.

Still don't understand the love for the big enter :|
