Need help finding a new board (again sorry)
« on: Wed, 12 September 2012, 20:12:14 »
Sorry about the topic spam but I really dont want to throw money at this only to make it not work. SO my game plan is to get a ergo clear board but I need to get a few things with a somewhat surplused budget of $200. If someone could give me information on where do get bare bones components like cherry mx blue springs, cherry mx clear switches, and o-rings that would be really awesome. So here is a list of stuff I need and if you guys could give me like some info on where to find it that would be awesome.
- a PCB mounted keyboard with unsoldered switches that is not over priced prefferably NKRO with a sleek black exterior although this is not nesscessary.
- some double-shot injection molded keycaps please post a provider of these that would be great.
- either red,brown,or, blue springs
side note: The tenkey less keyboard could have cherry red, brown, blue, or clear switches so that I wouldnt have to forage for other switches.
Please post places where I could get all the supplies as well as how much you think it would cost and how much time you think it would be, thanks!

not too many 87-key PCB mount boards out there (there are a couple like the neo zelia but that might not be your style). It might be easier for you to post a WTB for one that is already modded, or to find a plate mounted TKL you like and source some clear switches, and then have someone do the soldering work for you. You could snag a leopod fc200 pretty easily for this and even after switches and labor cost you would still be under $200.

good luck!

well a full sized keyboard would be fine I just want  a keyboard with money left to buy the springs and stuff. PLZ post information on where to get the stuff you are talking about.

I think most boards now are plate mounted. So you will have to do a lot of soldering. I would go with something cheap and switch the stems. So what you need is a cherry mx blue or brown board because I believe that they use the same kind of spring. Once you have this you need to find some clear stems which you are mostly likely going to have to pull from a different board or find someone who has some. I would get something like a CM Quickfire Pro because they are cheaper and are really good quality.
