drobo 4-bay 2nd gen (usb2/fw800 only), has issues

i've been using this drobo on my macbook pro for years over fw800, and it's been issue-free, but i can't for the life of me get it to work over usb or fw400 on my win7 machine. it may be a hardware issue, a firmware bug, or just a dumb user, i'm not really sure, but regardless, 100 shipped CONUS and it's yours, as i gave up on troubleshooting it and ordered a 2g drobo S.

comes with power supply, fw800 cable, fw400 cable, usb cable; no drives included. cosmetically, it looks like-new. the fan is a tiny bit dusty, but it was not running 24/7 on my machine; i generally only plugged it in to back up or retrieve from backups.

Have you tested it with usb on a mac? That's what I'd be using it for; to replace all these laptop drives in USB enclosures.
