KBT Race, with a Cherry MX Green on the spacebar, rest Blues
« on: Sun, 16 September 2012, 20:35:15 »
Just got a KBT Race with white led and cherry mx blues the other day, tonight I'm doing the O-ring mod and noticed the spacebar had a cherry mx green switch while the rest was blue, was interesting, thought I'd share.

yeah it's pretty common for OEMs to use the green in the space bar since your thumb is capable of exerting more force than your fingers :) Welcome to geekhack!

thanks. okay was interesting to me since i have several boards and haven't quite seen a different switch for the spacebar instead of the same switch as the rest of the board.

cherry MX Green is the same as Blue with a heavier spring :)

Oddly though Vortex only seem to do this on blues, and Ducky too I think. I don't think they use respective grey on brown or black... and red is all uniform too, no black space switch. I don't think any of the other companies do this on their boards. Only Cherry seems to be consistent with using heavier switch on spacebar.
