Filco LE Yellowtop MX Blue 87 Key
« on: Sun, 16 September 2012, 22:50:14 »
UNLESS YOU HEAR OTHERWISE FROM ME, I SUGGEST THAT YOU DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.  I JUST CANCELLED MY ORDER.  IN ORDER TO SHIP, THEY REQUIRED A PHOTO DRIVER'S LICENSE.  WE'LL SEE IF I GET A REFUND.

*** I  CAN AT LEAST SAY THAT THEY ARE HONEST - WITHIN SEVERAL HOURS OF A REFUND REQUEST, MY MONEY WAS REFUNDED. ***

Only $180 shipped! That's how you know it's filco.

It had better be 2-day shipping for $19.99

Can't you almost get a used topre for that much?

I know. Where will you find this keyboard anywhere else?

Still, I find it a little overmuch sometimes.

Looks nice, how much are Filcos usually? Hm..keyboardco has the TKLs for 95 GBP = 155 USD. Doesn't seem like a bad deal then, right?
I had a sig once but it's gone. It used to display an icon of a Kinesis. Just imagine that.

They are located in (and ship from) Hong Kong.  All shipments to US must go through customs.  That could be the reason, although I'm not a expert on international shipping my any means.

I'm in Israel.  I sent them proof of address and identity.  They said that PayPal advised them of what identification to request from me.  A photo-id is just too much.

I'd love to get some clarification about this. Why on earth would they need a photo ID? That seems awfully strange. I actually stumbled upon this website when I was trying to find a full deck yellow Filco, at the time they had the full deck but it was black cherry mx so I passed.

THE FOLLOWING ALL TOOK PLACE TODAY:

---------------------

Tim,

This was a PayPal order. You have all the verified and secure shipping
information that you need. I am not going to send you personal
information that could be used for other questionable purposes. I have
never before been asked to do this. You notified me that my order was
shipped, and sent me a Tracking Number. If this is not the case, and
you choose not to immediately ship my order, please immediately refund
my $1,341.11 HKD. This email should be, in itself, verification that I
am indeed the person that made the purchase.

Respectfully,

---------------------

 Hi,

Sorry about the trouble! but this is what PayPal advised us to

confirm more information from you! so please understand that,

otherwise! our shipping department won't release the order!

thanks.

Regards

---------------------

Tim,

The attached FedEx form, and Israel Identity Card Address Info Page should be what you need.  I am disabled, and do not possess a driver's license.

---------------------

Tim,

HAS MY ORDER BEEN RELEASED/SHIPPED?

---------------------

 Hi,

Unfortunately! our shipping department doesn't accept

this information to release your order! what they need

is your driver licence or some identification, please send

photos of them to us, or we will cancel your order, thanks.

Regards

---------------------

TIM:

PLEASE CANCEL MY ORDER, AND REFUND MY $1,341.11 HKD NOW/IMMEDIATELY!!!

RESPECTFULLY,

---------------------

I  STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY $1,341.11 HKD REFUND - SOMETHING THAT SHOULD TAKE 5 MINUTES (AT THE MOST).

I WOULD NEVER EMAIL A PHOTO ID TO ANYONE BUT AN OFFICIAL ISRAELI GOVERNMENT AGENCY.  I DOUBT VERY MUCH THAT PAYPAL WOULD ADVISE YOU TO REQUEST SUCH. READ THEIR "GUIDE":

https://www.paypal.com/il/webapps/mpp/security/general-understandidtheft

PLEASE CREDIT MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT AT ONCE.

Wow... Just bizarre... I don't have much experience ordering from Asia but I have never heard of a company asking for a copy of a photo id just to ship your order. Possibly ask them for clarification as to why exactly they need this?

Also, I'm pretty sure that "our shipping department" is actually just that same guy you're talking to.

Really not interested in knowing why they need the id.  Living in Israel, you have to know what are the "No-Nos".

metalliqaz...  I agree.

Reviews for this store here. Not that great, but not everyone complained:

US amazon handles the shipping for keyboardco if you order it on amazon. So it's their policy that they don't ship internationally. It has nothing to do with Bruce or keyboardco's shipping policy.

Read before I ordered...  I thought that the comments were good enough to buy from them.  And, in the end, they did promptly refund my money.

I know that it's an Amazon policy.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
