Hello guys,

well so, im new here and looking for ideas
how i can repair/replace my SteelSeries 7G "F" keycap.
On the back of the keycap there the mount for the cherry mx cross
is broken in half so i basically need a single replacement keycap for it
but i dont feel like spending 40€ for a full set of keycaps (especially because i couldnt use all of the keycaps
anyways due to the modified layout).
So if anyone has an idea of how to replace this please leave a comment.

I read in a thread earlier that the only way is either buy an entire full set of new keys or send it for SteelSeries to replace the keys for you.

hm yes that sounds pretty bad :<
but all i need is a simple F keycap which i dont think is
special in any type or form.

You can get a new 37-key set (A-Z and arrowkeys) which should match pretty well. The best option is to see if any GH'ers have a steelseries and have replaced the keycaps. They might be able to get you the one.
Another option is to replace it with a compatible keycap from another keyboard. Lots of people replace their CMstorm and filco keycaps. I don't have a steelseries, but I'm pretty sure they all use the "OEM PROFILE".
A final option is to get a single keycap made up by WASDkeyboards. It should be the same profile.

I'd offer to send you mine, but It's part of a dvorak set, and completely the wrong profile and colour.

i guess ill have to read some more about keycaps and profiles to see which ones match
and which dont. sofar im using the numblock "5" as a replacement

Just go to the steelseries web site and put in a ticket. I got almost every key on my SS7G replaced for free. They got a lot of complaints that their keys were wearing too fast and they were unhappy with it so they will replace up to 10 keys at a time.

Eventho i seem to fail finding them myself
Number 1 and 3 look quite interesting to me.
How much are these, so i know for future plans since i dont feel like
buying a whole new keycap set as of right now (money doesnt grow on trees for a poor student ^^)
Do they sell german layout keycaps too?

Today i got a response by SteelSeries but they said they dont have any replacement keycaps
left for my product so i guess ill have to find a keycap elsewhere.

I have a slightly shiny set I can give you my F key. I'll take a picture when I get home to see just how shiny that one key is. I think the worst were wasd so "f" might be alright.

It doesnt rly matter how used it is tbh

I tried fixing the mount on the back of the key with some glue and cut out the cross for the mount but
it didnt work out sofar :/
Would be cool if u can check for it in case u got a spare one.

I found the key but it is pretty shiny since I used it for about a year and a half. I'll give it to you. If you want all the old keys from my SS7G which does not include the tenkey, or arrows, or the 9 keys above the arrows you could just pay for the flat rate box and I'll send it all to you. Send me a PM.

i also require replacement keys for my 6GV2 after poor and disappointing support from Steelseries and came across these links on taobao. if someone could help translate and share the contact info for the vendor it would be greatly appreciated. i'm in Canada and finding replacements has been difficult.

Found one

the F letter is a little grayish out in the lower part, but it's not too noticeable.

Anyways, PM me so we can figure out the shipping/address part (going out now for a while tho

).
