Help me id this...?
« on: Wed, 19 September 2012, 01:34:12 »
It appeared recently in my "local eBay". Absolutely no data, and the guy selling it is asking a fortune. Looks like something out of the Cherry G80 series...

I'm happy with my recently acquired MX-11800 but, I keep coming back to that pic...

It's not a eBay link, and I don't think the guy'll do international shipping, but, here. http://goo.gl/hble7

The keyboard itself, plus the trackball thingy would not cost that much, but if the rack-mountable tray is included it could, at a stretch, cost what he is asking for it.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Consider the sellers reputation.

I'm not sure that's cherry. They do exist, but "bigass" enter keys are less common on cherry keyboards, and the right sido of the spacebar-row is a little different. It's also missing a lot of keys that the narrower-cherry keyboards have:

I don't think it's worth buying at that price.

Edit: Just noticed the .ar TLD. $450 argentinean pesos is only $95. Still not worth it, but better.

Looks like a qtronix 1800 knock off. Usually has Taiwan white MX copies. It's probably worth like $20 maybe.
