Think I broke my spacebar
« on: Mon, 24 September 2012, 01:38:36 »
Not sure if this is the right place to post but I'll try it here anyways.

I believe I slammed on my spacebar too hard and the left side of it appears to not register while pressing down on the middle and right side of the space bar seems to work just fine. While I cannot remove my key caps yet (I don't have a key cap remover yet, is there any specific one I should buy?), I think the the switch might be broken.

I'm using  KBT Race LE with Cherry Reds, and I'm not sure what kind of space bars could replace it if need be.

Thanks in advance for the help.

probably just came off the stabilizer. try pressing down on the left side and sort of jiggle around to feel if it's fitting with the stabilizer.
if you have to take it off make your own keypuller out of paperclips or just slide a credit card under the space bar to pop it off. you wont break it more than you already might have ;)

Well, in any case, I got it to work! Without your advice I would have never tried to fix it. The fix was easy once I realized how the stabilizer worked.
It's probably different for other keyboards but all I had to do was click back into place (although it took me forever to figure out the original positioning).
I had original though the metal strip somehow was supposed to push the spacebar back up but that was completely wrong, mine is laying on the back of the keyboard, locked into place.
