[WTT] QF Rapid mx red for your mx black
« on: Tue, 09 October 2012, 22:14:45 »
I'm looking to switch to mx blacks to see how they would feel for gaming.
Preferably shipping just the board, without the caps or case.

I'd also be interested in four black springs or switches to put into the WASD keys if anyone has any to spare.

Wow, that looks pretty badass without the case on it, it's a good bit smaller too!

I also really want to try out blacks as well, my QF reds are a little lighter than I expected, but still very happy with them.

GLWT.

I don't think I'd be up for swapping springs for the entire board. I hate desoldering...haha.
How about selling me just 10 springs?

OMG that board is naked.  This thread should be marked NSFW.   Put some clothes on that thing!  Joking aside that red plate looks really nice.  My first mechanical was a steelseries with blacks and I did enjoy it for gaming.

GLWT!  Do you have something underneath to protect the PCB?  I was thinking about doing this with my board, but building a wood or acrylic base to mount it to.  Also, for plate mounted boards, you have to desolder all the switches to open any of them, as the plate mounts from below the switch.

Bah, I didn't realize that. I guess swapping just 4 springs is out then...haha.

I have four rubber feet at the bottom lifting it off the table. You can take the rubber feet off the case and use them for the front feet, but you might need something thicker/higher in the back to clear the usb connector.

I decided to just try it...haha. I was able to get one of the switches off without having to desolder all of them. There's a tab on the switch that's accessible from the top that disengages it from the plate:

It'd still prefer to trade the whole board instead of just replacing a few springs though. Still looking!

I really wish you hadn't opened up the board before you decided you wanted blacks. I would have traded straight up for my QFR in blacks.

I didn't want to do a straight up trade cause I wanted to keep my black case.

Really? No wonder it doesn't work when I try to put it back in…

Anyways, I'm not looking to trade this any more. I decided to try out a Logitech G13 that I got from another member here. So this board is up for sale. The listing is here: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=36757.0
