[FS](USA)SiiG Minitouch, Model M & Some Keycaps
« on: Wed, 10 October 2012, 08:43:40 »
Ok, so I'm in a slightly difficult financial situation this week (between buying new tires for my car and other expenses), and I need to make $100 by October 15th in order to pay my car insurance.  Don't have to pay my insurance until next week.  Items below are still for sale (time to downsize my collection a little bit).  The items up for sale:

Item #1: SiiG Minitouch, white XM switches.  Was bought NIB from eBay not too long ago, used very lightly.  Comes in original box.  Asking $40.  Will take offers.  SALE PENDING

Item #2: feng Zinc arrow keys (MX).  I have two one sets of these, looking for $10 each.  One set sold to Shadovved.

Pic from geeky_feng eBay listing.

Item #3: Techkeys DDR arrow keys (MX).  I have one spare set of these.  Asking $10. Sold to Shadovved.

Item #4: TG3-BL82 backlit keyboard with Cherry MX Black switches.  Case has a few mild scratches here and there, along with a slight scratch across the [1] and [F1] keys.  I believe this is a 2KRO board.  Asking $40. SOLD to Capitalistix

Item #5: IBM Model M 1391401.  Manufacture date 02OCT89.  Bought this from eBay a few years ago.  I have two more Ms, so it's time to sell this one.  Is missing the numpad vertical + key, cats knocked this board off the table about a year and a half ago, broke the + numpad key.  I replaced it with a vertical [ENTER] key (I somehow mistook the broken + for a broken [ENTER] when I bought a new one).  Relatively clean, with some mild griminess on the case and on a few keys.  All but two rivets are intact.  Comes with SDL cable.  Asking $30.  SALE PENDING

5861-0

Buyer will pay for shipping unless we figure something else out...

Thanks!

Dammit that skull is tempting! Might be back later if someone doesn't jump in. Really wanting a HHKB 2 so not sure if I can justify this!

Hi there!

The skulls are nice, but I am interested in the keyboards.

Is that a typo in the SIIG description, or does it really have "XM" switches?

Ron,

XM switches are a variant of ALPS switches.  You can find more info about XM switches on the Deskthority Wiki, found  here.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Yes. That is definitively helpful.  So I am interested in the gray-label Model M and the TG3-BL82.  Th TG3-BL82 looks like it has mostly 1x1 keycaps plus some 1.25 keycaps and that spacebar with leds(?).

Except for the spacebar, do normal 1x1 and 1.25 MX keycaps fit the TG3-BL82?

And both keyboards are fully functional except for the cosmetics you've mentioned?  And they are both PS/2?

The layout of the TG3 is quite different than most normal TKL boards.  As you can see in the pics, the 1/! key is not a 1x1 key, but looks more like a 1.5 key.  Also, the Tab key is a 1x1 rather than a normal 1.5.  The keys are all one profile, they're all essentially the same profile as the function/number keys are on a normal Cherry keyboard.  The TG3 is USB, the IBM is PS/2.  Both are fully functional.

Also, if you take the Model M, do you want the extra caps with it too?  Or do you want just the board?

I don't need the extra Model M keys, thanks.

Re the TG3, does "essentially the same profile" mean I could replace any of the 1x1 keycaps with (e.g.) WASD top-row profile keycaps?

Basically, I am looking for a mini keyboard that I can put new MX keycaps on and use for a semi-portable ITX rendering PC.  If I can do that with the TG3, I am then interested in both.

If you're looking for a keyboard that can be easily customized with keycaps, then I would not recommend the TG3.  Firstly because it would be hard to find custom backlit keys, and secondly because any custom keys you would want to use would have to be Esc/Function row profile.  Also, if you are going to be doing alot of typing, Cherry MX Blacks aren't the greatest for that.

Thanks for your interest, and hopefully this helps answer your questions.

I've looked around and thought a bit, and I think I shall try to find a Poker unless the GH Mini makes it to production first.

Thanks and good luck with your sale!

It's difficult to compare the Minitouch to another keyboard... the layout is just bizarre, and the switches are interesting to type on.  It's a very clicky keyboard, clickier than a Model M almost.  The switches feel kinda cheap though, and require a high actuation force.  It's not anything too amazing to be honest, but it sure beats every rubber dome board out there...

It's really something you'd have to try for yourself.

Want a Model M?  Sure.  Can justify yet another B/S keyboard for the collection?  Less so.

I must say that I don't yet have a gray-label Model M.

Hmm.  Are all the keys functional?  Can you post the label from the backside of the keyboard so all the manufacturing details can be seen?

Thanks much,

I think I just got that today... it sent as an email and for some reason it ended up in my junk folder.  I sent a response back.

EDIT: That is, unless it wasn't you who emailed me... in which case, send me another PM.

Aww, how much would it cost to send the Model M to Australia? (My guess is some stupidly high cost, right?)
KBC Poker - Red switches. Noppoo Choc Mini - Black switches. Leopold FC700R (White) - Blue switches. Ducky YOTD - Brown switches. Razer BW - Blue switches and rusted.

Probably.  I'm trying to keep within the US if at all possible.  Given how long it's taking to sell, I might have to think about changing that...
