Has anyone had any success in fixing the "tight Fitting" problem with the first generation zinc caps? I'm very worried about even putting them on my board.

Somebody suggested that a light Dremeling helped. (R.I.P.ster perhaps?)
If you go too far with that, the Saran Wrap mod might bring it back to "just right" but this is a real "trial and error" solution!

We are on the precipice of signing an agreement to advance talks with Iran that preserves the good parts of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) while amplifying its flaws.
Mr. Obama came to an agreement that did not involve America’s most precious treasure, the lives and limbs of our soldiers. The 1.7 billion dollars of frozen Iranian assets released by Obama pales in comparison to the 300 billion being floated as a rebuilding fund.
So far, speculation that Iran will be free in the future to continue its nuclear program is the opposite of Trump’s stated goal for the war and in direct opposition to what Mr. Obama negotiated.

If you look at the round2 vs the round1, you will see that instead of an enclosed stem, they just made the stem an opened cross cut. Seems to me that you could do the same thing to yours, assuming you had the correct tool to perform the two cuts.

its actually pretty strange .. the QWERTY and ASDFG rows are the opened cross cut stems and the ZXCVB row are the enclosed stem. Both very tight..
