Das Keyboard II
It was manufactured by Cherry. It was basically a black G80-3000 with blank keys and with an older style of the "Das Keyboard" logo printed in white instead of the Cherry logo. The switches were PCB-mounted Cherry MX Blue. The keys caps made of POM plastic

60 bucks for the das II is alittle more than I would pay for. I would just probably use it for parts. Or modding.

yeah, been watching these for a while, they said they had ten available when they first started listing them, so there aren't too many left.  i haven't seen any of them go for less than ~40-50 dollars, was hoping i could somehow grab one of these cheap but doesn't seem that's going to be happening.

are these keycaps thick or thin? i noticed you could see the switch stems/whatever in some high-res shots.

edit: they list the condition as "hardly used" and had ten of them so i doubt they're in bad shape.

looks like one sold in july for 25 on ebay, too bad that didn't happen this time around =/

I probably bid on one of them, but not too much. You can get G80-3000LPCXY-2 which is essentially the same thing but with blacks for $90 brand new.

Of the Das 2 keyboards, it is the keycaps that is worth the money.  You can't find them anywhere else.

I am actually unclear whether they are PBT or POM.  But definitely not ABS.

You can still get them since Cherry still makes blank models XY or XX for ISO. They also have blank pbt 3000 model in white, but have only seen in ISO.

But it wouldn't be ANSI, would it?  I suppose you could say only the ANSI Enter, ANSI |\, and ANSI right shift are rare.

The two Das 2 that I have are MX blue.  Don't think they were made with other MX switches, but I could be wrong.  They are just like any other PCB-mount MX keyboards.  And they are 2KRO only.  No diodes.

My first MX was blacks 3000, it did have some flex, but it was easy to resolve by adding another rubber feet in the center. Or could do what some have done and add plate from G81 under the pcb.
G80-3000LPCXY-2 board is ANSI:

Only thing that's different keycap wise is has those stupid bubble win keys. I really hate those.

I don't own it. I guess it was some rule with MS to have the bubble to represent the 'orb' on Vista and 7. Now that they have done away with that I wonder go back to flat keys for 8 branding? I hope so, I want to see the bubble no more.

There are only a few Cherry models that are usb better than 2kro like the 1865, 3494, and I don't think this is one of them. Stepped caps is always offset stem on Cherry. Same alignment as a 1.25 key.

As someone who uses a Das Keyboard II, I can confirm 2KRO and offset Caps Lock.

I kind of want to pick one of these up just to have some spare keys!

How does it feel? Compared to the cherry g80. How does it feel compared to other blues?

IMHO POM rocks.  You get a little bit of slippery feel (ABS) with texture (PBT).

In fact I'm working with qtan now to import one of these:

Noppoo Choc Pro RF.  Ninja style POM keycaps.  Even if the board sucks ass those POM keycaps are solid gold.

get qtan to import two of 'em

Seems there is a bidding frenzy for some reason on one ending soon, yet some others go unbid on so far... which are now the same price. I guess some people like to pay more than needed for things? Of course it was the one I had a bid on, but I don't think I am even going to try for one of the others. I forgot I had a G80-1200 (it's more better anyway, even though it just has doubleshots) on the way to me, and I don't really need another fullsize keyboard. Thanks silly ebayers.
