Elecom Scope Node Laser Mouse
« on: Mon, 29 October 2012, 23:03:39 »
Hey guys! Just wondering if anyone used this mouse before and what you think about it. Looks like it has 1600 dpi laser and you can buy it from ebay too.

http://gdgt.com/elecom/scope-node/

From the looks of it, Elecom has a few really interesting and fancy looking ones (KASANE, ORIME). Unsure of how comfortable as it claims to be, but I'm tempted to get it! ^^ Oh! And it has wired and wireless versions too.
Thanks!! :)

Looks to be around $65 total (base price + shipping).  A bit expensive for a 1600 DPI mouse but I guess the ergonomic factor + coolness factor is probably also included in the price  :P

I can imagine the off centre sensor might need some getting used to.  Has anyone used this before lol?

LOLLLLLLLLLL this company makes funny looking mice

I had this mouse once. I was especially drawn to the large scroll wheel. It had very good tracking and function very well, but the body is very short and it has a sharp ridge on the back where the raised button section ends making it very poor for my palm grip. If you use claw grip it would be a very good mouse.

Maybe use it for your laptop?  Though it looks like it would be hard to fit into bags LOL

Orime LOL. That has to be the least ergo mouse ever made.

Some of thier other models are quite bad as well, like mbdur which is just a block... they have a lot of form over function practice, but at least they are not scared to try things.

I have two of these, I got both the wireless version for my laptop and the wired for my desktop. I love them, the mouse's weird dimensions seem absolutely tuned to claw grip. It's pretty much useless for palm grip unfortunately.

When your doing a claw grip, you'll find the uneven lengths of the mouse buttons match exactly such that the button lengths extend just slightly beyond where you'd normally put your fingers, also its hard to see in the pictures, but there's a part on the opposite side where it bevels out thats located exactly where your ring finger is on a claw grip that gives a lot more extra control. Basically you don't need to apply any force when your gripping it, the shape just lets you move it by having your fingers in the right position.

One note though, the location of the sensor means if you use a normal claw grip and try to play FPSs or similar games, your fast movements are going to be horrible (There's a video on youtube showing this). If you adjust your grip though so your centering the sensor more (Basically your centering your mouse and holding it at an angle exactly like you would a pen or pencil) then fast movements work fine.

Also about price, if you can get a forwarder to forward from Amazon, its by far the cheapest on Amazon.co.jp. For the cheapest colours, its $15 for the wired mouse and $25 for the wireless.

(It says its on sale, but its one of those sales that never ends)

I'm read an review saying the middle mouse button is really hard to click, is it true?

In terms of the weighting of the button, its definitely really high, higher than most mouses I've tried. The one redeeming thing about it is that the big wheel makes you much less likely to accidentally scroll the wheel while clicking.
I can't say how much the weighting will affect you in the long run though since I pretty much never use the middle mouse button.

I have one. Got it from j-list. I'm a claw grip. I actually really liked the feel of it, but the materials, aside from the rubber part, are kinda crappy/cheap. Paint rubbed off on mine and the wire eventually broke internally. Also the rubber on the scroll wheel kept sliding off the wheel. As for the laser quality, pretty much its only good on smooth surfaces. Any type of cloth pad, even micro fiber, the cursor would show "noise," cursor exhibited jumpiness on micro movements. Definitely not a mouse for fps games, or any type of thing requiring pixel precision. Loved it for rts and moba games though. It's small and light. Love the ghost in the shell look. Yeah it's hard to recommend to people, but it is a cool-ass mouse. And yes the middle click button is annoyingly hard to click. Anyone who middle clicks to open links in new tabs in a browser (same as ctrl click) will be annoyed. The mouse will slide every time you middle click.

Ahh yes, in FF you need to middle click to open a link in a new tab, I was wondering why everyone needed middle click so much. With my browser I just drag and drop a link to make it open in a new tab.

The paint on mine seems pretty decent so far, I do agree the wire doesn't look like the strongest one there. If you try the modified grip I described in my first post though, I find with it you get higher pixel precision then any other mouse I've had so far. Just played through Black Mesa and I never had any problems with it.
