I made a detachable usb connector today

from stuff I already had :)

4-pin connectors from a case fan
female usb port from a usb>ps2 adapter
and some heat shrink tubing

wow awesome work didn't even think about using a case fan connector. gave me an idea to try this as well on my cheat.

i have the ps2/usb connector as well, did you just cut it in half and just solder the wires direct to the usb part?

I took a few more photos but haven't had the chance to go through them yet. But yup, I split the adapter open and soldered to the pins.

cool would appreciate any other photos you upload. guess you just have to figure out a way to mount this somehow with the case on now.

I like my boards naked...haha. I use them without the case and stick rubber feet underneath the PCB. Gives it a lower profile and zero-degree tilt.

Although it wouldn't be hard to mount inside the case. Just need some longer cables, cut a hole, and glue the usb port in place.

yeah good point, i really like this idea think i will give it a go to get rid of my ugly grey ps2 cable ruining my cheat.
