WTB Bolt Modded Model M
« on: Wed, 31 October 2012, 20:09:27 »
I had something very bad happen to my current model M keyboard.  From what it looks like there is a short somewhere in the circuitry in the board, so even after a thorough cleaning, the entire left side of the board is throwing multiple characters, and character strings..  Personally, from my own experience with working on these, I think there's something wrong with the controller.  I'm very upset that it's not working any longer, but will open it up later to determine if it is something I can fix.

In the meantime, I need a new keyboard, but won't settle for just another keyboard.

So, does anyone have a bolt modded model M for sale?  I would prefer a gray label part no. 1391401 if possible.

Thanks guys and gals.

I look forward to your responses.

Call Unicomp up and tell them you'd like a controller for your board, they'll take good care of you. :)

Thanks for the reply;

You think it might be in the controller?  That raises a whole other series of questions.  Like does the controller work with the original wiring/cables?  Will a temporary short cause the controller to go out?  I'm basically worried about complete compatibility.  What changes would I expect with a new controller?

Thanks smallFry

give them your board's model number and they should be able to provide you with an identical replacement controller.
