FTL has got my teenage son addicted
« on: Thu, 01 November 2012, 21:25:16 »
Some time a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled on a discussion of the FTL game here.

I never game, but I got it for my son and he has been enthralled for a solid week at least.

He has been playing shoot-em-up games for a while, but he says "Daddy, this is the first one that really makes me use my mind."

So, thanks, I guess.

He needs something else to do with himself, but I am glad that he is learning to think like a leader rather than an animal, at least.
"We are on the precipice of signing an agreement to advance talks with Iran that preserves the good parts of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) while amplifying its flaws.
Mr. Obama came to an agreement that did not involve America’s most precious treasure, the lives and limbs of our soldiers.  The 1.7 billion dollars of frozen Iranian assets released by Obama pales in comparison to the 300 billion being floated as a rebuilding fund.
So far, speculation that Iran will be free in the future to continue its nuclear program is the opposite of Trump’s stated goal for the war and in direct opposition to what Mr. Obama negotiated.

A quick Google search turns up, Faster than Light. This sounds a lot like Enders Game. 'This my favorite book, TBH.

Sorry, I was under the impression that "I" was the one failing to be with it! Silly old me!

Faster Than Light is a single player Steam game.

You are the captain of a spaceship, and you have to actually manage the entire operation of the ship, not just fly around and shoot.

Apparently, there is quite a bit to do. Give it a whirl, for $10 it seems like a worthwhile game.

This is exactly Enders Game! That's worth a read for him, since you were asking for books for him earlier this year. The game sounds cool!
