Hello Everyone!
« on: Thu, 15 November 2012, 19:39:14 »
 : :D :D

I am a computer programmer and I have recently become a keyboard enthusiast. I was introduced to this forum by a friend who was my roommate in college.

I currently have the Razer Black Widow Ultimate with MX Blue, the CMSTORM with MX Brown (87), the kind of cheap dukcy with ALPS Green, and the Vortex with MX red.

I just placed an order for a filco(87) two days ago and can't wait to get my hands on it. I am currently very into high quality keycaps; I couldn't describe the feeling I had when I saw the CCnG set and many other nice sets.

I'm looking forward to having a good time here!
Thanks!

Welcome to Geekhack!

A nice collection you already have.

But beware of aiming for high quality or rare key caps - they tend to sell for $100 or more EACH!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Good to have you onboard. Looks like you did a bit of lurking before registering. Otherwise you wouldn't have known what "CCnG" was.

I think you'll fit in here just fine. I was worried at Black Widow, I'm not gonna lie, but you redeemed yourself with the rest. Welcome!

What kind of switch do you like more for your programming so far?

Unm that's a great question! :) I prefer MX blue for programming because the clicky sound often creates a rhythm, which is awesome when you are on fire. I like brown for general daily purposes. But I'm still experimenting with alps green and will soon get my ergo clear. I think ergo clear has potential!
