Filco Majestouch 2: McDonald's Mod
« on: Fri, 16 November 2012, 05:52:15 »

This mod is so simple that it was done by changing just the key caps.
The red cover plate came from an ItalianRed Majestouch, and the yellow key caps are exactly the same as the Yellow Limited Edition: http://roamingglass.blogspot.tw/2011/11/filco-yellow-adding-sunshine-to-my-desk.html (Not my blog), minus the printing.

Too bad the LEDs are the original blue. If I could replace them with yellow or white ones... :-*

I have a ketchup and mustard board too. It is somewhere in storage right now.

Edit: I remember the nick from somewhere. You're from KBT?

When something gets at the end of the ugly roll. It starts over with pretty.

Your board is one inch in the roll before the prettiest thing on the planet.

But I give you full credit for a McDo's mod.

May I ask from where you obtained the yellow key caps please?

Are they really exactly the same colour as Filco yellow?

And are printed ones available?

Greeting. I can assure you the yellow color is 100% the same as the Filco yellow. It IS the Filco yellow.

Long story short about the source of these key caps: I live in Taiwan. You might already know, even though Filco is from Japan, the Majestouch products are in fact manufactured and assembled in Taiwan by Costar.
The vendor from whom I bought the key caps is able to make direct contact with the key cap supplier of Costar, that's how I obtained the yellow key caps.
As for printed ones, that could be arranged as well.

An impressive bit of collecting/part sourcing though.

This is the best way I can come up with for you, the Facebook of the vendor I mentioned: http://www.facebook.com/KBK.TW, Mr. Sun (孫).

I'm not sure if he's willing to sale oversea, but it worth a try. After all, he's the biggest Filco distributor in Taiwan.

Tell him you want the "golden yellow" caps: http://www.inpad.com.tw/goods.php?act=view&no=5950.

There's another yellow one which is brighter, be sure not to mix them up: http://www.inpad.com.tw/goods.php?act=view&no=5951

KBK could do the printing for you, even print them as Ninja caps~

That's great information, thank you.

Unfortunately the price is way higher than I would like.  $800 (presumably Hong Kong dollars) is about $100 Aussie dollars.  Plus shipping.  Plus getting them printed, probably in the US as I haven't heard of anyone in Australia that can print key cap legends, and the price would probably be nearer $200, which is way too much for me right now.

But I will bookmark the pages for later reference.

Thank you again :)

Hmm...no, it is 800 Taiwan dollars, roughly 212 Hong Kong dollars.
