Worst ways to die
« on: Fri, 16 November 2012, 21:03:22 »
Woo, finally an uplifting thread. What do you think would be the worst way to die, anything you can imagine. I would say being a fish out of water. Fish have about 5 second memories, so every 5 seconds you would realize in a panic you were about to die and cannot breath. Every 5 second cycle would be worse and more agonizing then the last as you got closer and closer to death never fully comprehending what was going on until the last moment when you regain your memory for just a brief second only to die immediately. :'(

When my daughter was about 3, a father of one of my close friend's father died - in his sleep.

I told her, and she was very upset. She said it was awful.

Perplexed, since I figured that it was actually a pretty good way to go, I asked her "Why?"

Her reply? "Because he wouldn't know that he was dead!"

Ah - the logic of a 3-year-old!

Years of general decline in health, culminating in confinement to a "nursing home" where all you can do is suffer for even more years while waiting to die, all the while watching all your life earnings being consumed by the medical system so that all your attempts at building an inheritance for your family wind up being for nothing, until further progression of your general decline robs you of even that awareness, reducing your existence to nothing but pain interrupted by periods of awareness just long enough to realize that all you do is suffer and incur debt, followed at long last by death, broken, broke, and alone, from nothing in particular, by which point everyone who knew you will have become so weary of you from watching you do nothing but suffer that they can no longer find it in themselves to care about your passing.

Interestingly, such deaths are quite common.

I am totally convinced that a "Hemlock"solution could, and should, not only be legal, but also common.

There is little doubt that I would choose it for myself, once my quality of life was degraded past a certain threshold.

Although the elders in my family mostly went quickly and with dignity, I have, and am, watching my wife's ancestors inflict and endure monumental suffering on themselves and surprisingly large circles around them.

It is a tragedy and a horror.

Personally, I think cancer is one of the worst ways to die.

When my daughter was about 3, a father of one of my close friend's father died - in his sleep.

Perplexed, since I figured that it was actually a pretty good way to go, I asked her "Why?"

Ah - the logic of a 3-year-old!

I actually understand that logic. I would hate dying in my sleep because I would leave unfinished business. Of course, when you're dead the unfinished business no longer matters, but still. haha.

one humorous, one serious.

1. Death by getting run over slowly by a steamroller from the legs up, purely because the steamroller would stop the bleeding from areas it's crushed.

2. Bees.

Burning while being sawn in half in a bath of HCl.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thinking of death hurts but once it has happened. It is done. Mental torture with or without physical torture would be pretty bad.

If anyone that will be dying soon, please be at peace.

Best way to die? Carcrash. Not wishing on it but one of the better options.

A dream I dreamed a couple times is where I kill people by complete accident and everybody hates me. I'm shunned by everyone and I try to show I'm innocent but nobody listens so I start making this plane(I don't know how in the world the plane is relevant but I do it every time for some reason). I start flying the plane and somehow I feel that flying it is going to prove my innocence. But before anybody can see me, I start losing control. I'm afraid that I might kill someone else so I turn and crash into the water and kill myself. So I end up dieing without being able to prove my innocence and for me, I feel the worst way to die is to die hated.

I think life is the worst way to die.

LOL but so true.

I don't know about worst, but I fear drowning.

Best way to die?  Getting run over by a steamroller in place of someone you love.
