I am thankful for Geekhack
« on: Wed, 21 November 2012, 14:11:46 »
Tis the season to be thankful.  What are you thankful for?

I'm thankful that Geekhack will keep me entertained during this Thanksgiving weekend.  Oh, and the green stuff.  I'm thankful for that too...

A friend of mine would like me to let you know he is thankful that he is not at this forum anymore. But I don't believe him. Now I don't fully endorse the second half of this image (though I don't say you shouldn't go there), so do what you wish in that regard. I think deep down, he just wants all of you to have a truly Happy Thanksgiving, from the bottom of his heart.

I am thankful for Geekhack as it has helped me realise that it's easy for me to go from one obsession (shoes) to another one. LOL
Also, it gives me something to do while I sit here bored on campus pretending to write the rest of this portfolio.

I'm thankful for girl's asses, the mechanical keyboard market opening up, WASD sample kits, any cultivated Afghan strain, tjcaustin's avatar, The Walking Dead comics for opening me up to using rape and dismemberment to advance a story's plot, and that little boys do eventually grow up.

sth, I also wish the best to your grandma.

Do you mean to say you don't participate in American traditions, or that you, as a Canadian can't be thankful of anything (or that you're thankful you are a Canadian) ?

I'm thankful for all the GH'ers here. We post good content, organize groupbuys, take enviable pictures, answer questions, do research, and (my personal favourite) get good DIY stuff done. I don't know where I'd be without you all.

I'm thankful to be part of a community of keyboard enthusiasts.
For all the admins who work so hard to keep this site going 24/7.
For members who donate money and/or items to be sold or auctioned to raise funds to support the site.
For community projects, such as the GH60, made by and for our own members.

Also, for my health, for the love of my family, and that I live in a free and prosperous nation.
For the men and women of the US military, who serve dutifully, and many of whom can't be with their families to give thanks today.

I'm thankful for a lot of things.
Family, friends, my job.  The usual list.
Also, the unnamed people who do the down and dirty stuff that make every day modern life possible for the rest of us.  The nasty jobs that someone's gotta do.
Thrift stores, pawn shops, and yard sales, for helping me stretch my sub-par income.
You all, for being knowledgeable, understanding, helpful and friendly.

Goodnight xsphat - thank you for dropping in :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Doesn't matter what it is in particular, as long as it's awesome. And not because THEY think it's awesome. What they think is irrelevant.
