Hello all
« on: Wed, 28 November 2012, 08:07:40 »
I would like to delve into the world of mechanical keyboards. I've decided that I would like either Cherry MX Blue or Cherry MX Brown switches (or their equivalent). The problem is that I don't know of any place I can go to test them (I would like to try a blue vs a brown to see what I like better) . Microcenter is about 40 min away. No place else seems to carry them that I can tell. Any help? Thanks in advance!

I'm looking at about $100 max for a new keyboard.  Non-gaming keyboards preferred.  Don't have to be backlit, have a removable cord, USB hub, but would prefer those things.

You can pick up a cmstorm with blues for $60ish. What state are you in?

Welcome to Geekhack!

If you don't mind the extra clicking sounds, go blues, otherwise browns.  Both are tactile.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
