Gone mechanical keyboard crazy...
« on: Fri, 07 December 2012, 17:17:07 »
Guess I should introduce myself. My name Tom and I'm actually obsessive compulsive... My compulsion shifts from object to object that I can't get out of my mind. Well.. I'm sure you can guess that since I'm here, that compulsion has moved toward mechanical keyboards.

I have had plenty of mechanical keyboards in the last couple years, but have really settled on the DAS silent as my day to day. Well, I was digging through my closet and found a brand new Ducky DK9008G2 with browns. I popped it open and have fallen in love. Since locating this little prize, I've found out that microcenter has been selling ducky keyboards from different regions. So, I went and picked up a DK9008G2 Pro in black and red.

Unfortunately, it didn't stop there. I moved on to a Logitech G710+, which I have returned for a CM Storm Trigger with browns. It's pretty nice, but the ducky has my heart at the moment. My last acquisition was a rosewill with blues. It's very nice, but I think I wanna get some o-rings, so my wife doesn't divorce me when I decide to use it.

Anyways, Just wanted to state my complete joy in my keyboard obsession for the week. Now just to hide the bank statement from the little lady...  :p

Welcome to wallet-hack - don't look at the media subforum or you will want all the keys.

Welcome to Geekhack!

I'd love to look in my cupboard and find a new mechanical keyboard I didn't know was there.  Any idea how it got there?

You are in an enviable position - having a few keyboards with different switches to play with.  Enjoy!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

60% keyboards, 100% of the time.

I'm pretty sure I picked it up along side a steelseries 7g during a mouse phase. I probably just stored it and forgot about it. I am on a lot of meds.... Haha!

I've had worse (read: more expensive) obsessions... My wife is almost good with this one.

In my basement. Unfortunately, the only other keyboard I found in the stacks was a 2011 black widow... Want it?

Half of them are,and some even have custom keycaps to prove it.
