Age of Empires II
« on: Mon, 10 December 2012, 16:39:16 »
I heard that they were re-making the original AoE2 to have better graphics and what not but same game play. Does anyone know if this is true?

This game is awesome and one of the best strategic games that I've played, and it's still so old.

Any information on this would be great  ;D or just share your love of the game!

<3 AoE2

I know, its amazing how something so old can be so fun. Since online isn't that easy anymore, playing on LAN with locals is alright with me!

Love this game. There was a period earlier this year where my group of friends (around 12 of us) decided to revive the game and play it again, so we used the GameRanger client to play online. Heaps of fun, but there were always problems with lag and other issues when too many players were in the game.

If they really are remaking it to be properly compatible with current systems and online play, that would be so amazing! But I hope to god they don't make the graphics like AoE3...

Oh and hopefully they remake it with The Conquerers Expansion too...

Edit: a quick search reveals that the "remake" was most probably an April Fool's joke by Microsoft...

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.

It would be enough if they took community patches for high resolution and stuff, and fix obvious bugs, such as game lags with increasing number of units.

I'm a bit worried, about the result... I won't be disappointed, at least.

Well that brings back memories. I've always sucked at RTS games, but still played so much AoE2 back in the day. Perfect for LAN parties. A proper remake that literally keeps all the original gameplay of a classic game does not sound bad at all, but I haven't heard about this anywhere.

Now, if they did the same to HoMM3... oh my.

I think it was on reddit where I saw a post about it, but now cannot find this post. But yes this game was the best for a nice LAN party, and still is today. But better graphics would be really amazing and I would totally re-buy this game for it.

Never got RoR, but played The Conquerors Expansion. Superb game for it's time. Many hours wasted in a dark room!  :p

AoE 2 was a really really fun game, but I was too young to figure out any serious strategies besides "mass huskars"

I loved the Goths.

Paladin are definitely the only way to go! 150 of them and a rush will knock out any team!

Yeah, last time I checked it out, AoE HD was 20 USD in steam. Tomorrow I'll try it.
