Need help with choosing between QPAD MK-50 or Blackwidow 2013
« on: Mon, 17 December 2012, 06:31:49 »
I am trying to solve a little keyboard conundrum here.

Since where I live (Eastern Europe) there is very limited selection of tactile mechanical keyboards and nobody is bothering to import anything my selection in the price range to 100EUR is limited to:

QPAD MK-50 (blue)

Razer Blackwidow 2013 (blue)

Zowie Celeritas (brown)

I am also open to suggestions about other full sized keyboards that have tactile keys and US layout in that price range that can be bought in Europe.

QF TK doesn't have a "full sized layout"

Personally, I'd get a QF rapid mail-forwarded to europe, and add a seperate mechanical tenkey. That should come in under 100 EUR all told.

Given those three options, I don't know what I'd pick. (Maybe the celeritas?) If you do get a BW, at least see if you can get an extended warranty on it, they seem to have a "history".

Another option is to order from somewhere in Asia that ships internationally.

Well if your dead set on a full size get a skydigital nkeyboard from south Korea best keyboard I've used

http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfiretk/

The tk is not ten keyless
You should order it from scan.co.uk they have shipped to some of my dreamhack friends who come from the ukraine

If your dead set on those 3 get the one with browns you can get it in the uk for a rather small price increase for shipping

The problem with TK is that thanks to the ancient guys at Borland, ctrl+ins and shift-insert are into my coding muscle memory. Otherwise seems like very nice piece of hardware.

Thanks a lot - the shipping from the UK is indeed bearable, the problem is that scan.co.uk seem to have cooler master storm keyboard models in stock that end in -UK, which seem to be in UK layout. Although they are using the stock pictures with ANSI layout. And I just hate short left shift key. But will hunt some uk sites for ANSI if they have some.

From what you have listed i'd buy them in that order:
1. QPAD MK-50 (blue)
2. Zowie Celeritas (brown)
3. Razer Blackwidow 2013 (blue)

I f*cking LOVE QPAD as a brand, i use one of their mouse pads for like 5 years now and for sure it is the best soft pad on the marked (from the 20+ mouse pads that i have tested on my ex-job) and i so far i have heard only good things about their keyboards so i assume that you wont regret it.

On second place i say the zowie because there are only a few things that i hate more then the blue switches. No srsly they are the biggest trash in the mechanical keyboard market i have no idea why anyone would buy a keyboard like that if he have tested it beforehands.

And last i say the blackwidow because of the blue switches. I personally use BW 2012 and i am happy with the quality and so on but if i knew what a piece of **** the blue switches are before i got it i would never get it. But if you ask me you should not worry about the quality of the keyboard from me personal exp and of two other friends that have BW 2011 and BW ultimate 2011, and they use it every day for hard gaming almost 2 years now.
What the hell am I even doing

If your dead set on us ANSI you might look at a noppoo choc pro from qtan or feng on this forum but you would be better off getting a Swedish or Russian qpad price wise

Quality counts, and affects the feel.  My friend's BW feels like a cheap toy, and the feeling of the blues is poor compared to my QFR with blues.  Qpad is also a lower tier brand in the mech keyboard world.

Check the vendor forums here, there's options for getting good brands right out of China/HongKong. :)

I can't offer much input for the Zowie or QPAD, but I can tell you to avoid using the BWU. It is not at all worth the cost. Not only does it feel cheap, but mine has began to fail. Certain keys just no longer register without repeatedly pressing it. I've had it for just about a year now, and I took excellent care of it. Never traveled with it, kept it clean, never ate or drank around it. It's obnoxiously large (which is just a personal peeve), it feels awful, the gloss is annoying, the keys are very low quality, the LEDs have failed in several spots, and it's very difficult to get in to if you want to try to fix something yourself. If you are going to get one, you should invest in a warranty. Personally I think it'd be better to spend the money on a higher quality keyboard like a Filco, Ducky, Leopold, etc.

In short, stay away from the BWU.
