Two hands?
No seriously.  I feel you need to pass a psychological evaluation before owning a firearm.  There should also be a restriction on what you can actualy buy.  An AK, G3, FN FAL, etc... is for revolutionaries, not for hunting or defending your house.  If you need more than a pistol to defend your house, you are doing something wrong.

I feel that i should go out and get a handgun (for target practice, not self-defense) before any more restrictions make it through.

It's inherently illegitimate. It makes no sense. There is no argument.

Government is the most dangerous violent weapon which will ever exist, is controlled by the most dangerous people, yet folks believe peaceful individuals should not have reasonable means to be able to protect themselves from such.

No seriously.  I feel you need to pass a psychological evaluation before owning a firearm.

Why? No one can even define "mental illness". You know who I think are mentally ill and shouldn't be able to own guns? Those people killing all those kids in foreign countries. You know, congress.

Uh, wut? What if you need to protect yourself from tyranny? What if your hostile is not within appropriate yardage for a pistol to be effective? What does hunting have anything to do with it?

The whole purpose of the 2nd amendment is for the people to be able to protect themselves from a tyrannical government. The entire constitution is protected by the second amendment. It's worded in a way that the people are allowed to arm themselves with weapons equal to that of the governments military.

I'm not one of those radicals in any way, but guns...including "assault weapons" aren't the problem. We need to focus more on our culture, morals, and mental health system instead of targeting guns.

The entire constitution is protected by the second amendment.

I like how you worded that. It's very correct; few people know that without guns the entire constitution is useless:

Well I view the problem's root (including all things you mentioned) as one of statism, but I often get called a "radical" whenever I point out that those who favor government are arguing in favor of legitimization of the monopoly on violent force which inevitably causes far more deaths than any individual with a weapon ever would.

Which makes me question just what is a "radical" anyway? Seems like it's a term used for political purposes much like "terrorist".

I think it's a person that thinks outside the norm that is fed to them by the government via the media. For the purpose of this discussion I just wanted to point out the I wasn't typing this sitting on a weapons cache with a tin foil hat on in my underground bunker.

In any case if they took away all the guns there would only be two groups that have them. The government/police and criminals. Everyone else would just be a victim. Gun laws don't prevent gun violence, they only define the crime after the fact. Bad people will always be able to get guns and do bad things.

I also would rather not wait 2-3 minutes for the police to come save me if someone is trying to kill me. 2 minutes is an eternity in that situation. I've been down the road before and I won't do it again.

What some ppl don't understand is that 'Merica was a country that was fought for, American's took it, they took it from the Indians (really should be native american's) then they said to the british GTFO, then they took some more land from the French and Spaniards. But it began with guns, we fought against the British, i mean that country is so silly they still have a queen.

And we used muskets at that time, the most advanced weaponary available to a person/citizen. If that's the case, why are arms being limited to citizens, sure we can say that the average citizen really has no right to own anti-tank bazookas or predator drones, but why not the most advanced assault weapons, like they did 200 years ago?

Well said.

Here's another fun quote I saw on the subject on hackaday

So sad to see so many smart people with so so little common sense. I’ll turn it political. Another gun fearing liberal that thinks you are obviously too irresponsible to own a gun because he is too irresponsible to own one.

It is extremely unwise to have guns that you can not control.

When seconds count, help is only minutes away.

Spoons made me fat.

I smell a troll.

I have a mechanical gun, with a real trigger instead of an electric one.
It has one key, called a trigger.
Some new guns have electric triggers but I prefer the feel of a mechanical trigger pull.
I like a wide slightly curved trigger whereas some like a flat trigger.
it is very tactile, and makes a lot of noise when I fire it, really not suitable for indoor use.
I'd get a quiet one if there weren't so many gun control restrictions on suppressors.
My gun has a red LED laser on it, its not quite the same as backlit, but it works well.

If i went to the ALPS and shot it I bet I could hit a few cherries with it.
When i put it away i make sure the scroll lock is on.
Sometimes when I shoot I wear headphones, but my gun has no multimedia controls.

I can shoot one handed with practice,  finger position is very important.

;-)

i can't wait for electronic triggers, then dumb ppl at least have some platform to say call of duty is bad. Paintball guns have had electronic triggers for years, it's time for modern guns to step it up.
