are you talking a 3pc style design like the phantom case? anything with 3D cutting is going to raise the price a lot, but 3 piece cases can be made with only 2D cuts.

Making the parts from a mold is pretty cheap, but making the mold itself is extremely expensive. It's only cost effective if the cases are mass produced.
