I thought that this was canceled. You guys really want your stuff still going to TheProfosist after two months in the dark on his other GB?

My fiance ordered an ErgoDox with the assembly service (as reflected on the shipping manifest included in the box), but received an unassembled kit shipped directly from MassDrop.

I've contacted MassDrop, will post again when I get a response.

TheProfosist's lack of reply is a bit concerning. I sent him a PM a few days ago but did not receive a reply.

And my second kit was sent directly to Prof, which is why I was asking for updates.

According to the tracking information, you received the shipment at April 10.

And there is no update since then.

Prof was in the IRC last evening, he has told me that the eDoxen will not be assembled fully until he has all the parts, as MassDrop did not pack all the necessary materials. I will pull my IRC logs in a bit, if asked.

prof would respond within an hour before the groupbuy. After he got the orders, his response time was once a month. that is most disturbing.

I reached out to Prof and MD a couple days ago.  No response from Prof - MD just told me they had been hearing about the lack of communication between him and the buyers, and that they would follow-up.  I'm still waiting on a response from either.

Figured I'd post for transparency.  It seems there was a miscommunication between Prof and MassDrop, which lead to him never receiving the replacement parts that he needed (the ones that were missing from the kits).  He's working that out with MD, now.

think you are right. Just realized there is a whole thread dedicated to it.

He would need to offload ergodox off of geekhack and deskthority to make a profit. maybe we should implement a system to prevent that from happening.

Yeah, too bad there isn't some way to red flag a person to give people a heads up if this does happen. Sometimes it's best to be proactive about stuff like this because there isn't much that can be done once it happens.

I do feel for you guys though. I'm still waiting for switches and stabilizers so that I can start building my Phantoms and LZ-GH.

I received notice from Massdrop last week that they are having kits returned to them, and that they will be handling shipment/reimbursements for assembly charges.  If you ordered the build services through Massdrop for the original ErgoDox buy, if you haven't received any notices, I'd reach out to Massdrop to check.

Hey that's good that massdrop is stepping in to try and resolve this. But I'm really curious though, how are they going to have it returned to them when it's already in Prof's hands? He ain't gonna ship it back, that's for sure.

That seems to be the information that they're providing, currently.  That kits are being shipped back to MD for distribution back to intended parties.  With that said, though, they are running another Dox buy currently - could always mask the missing kits with new kits sent to us.

That's gotta be some miracle to get Prof to spend money AND time to ship it out. If this is true though, I don't see why he can't do the same for all the phantom stuff he's supposedly holding.

If MassDrop just ordered more new kits to replace the missing ones, that's a huge loss, and Prof just gets to keep the kits he has with him.

Sadly, this whole thing could have been cleared up with something as simple as better communication. I wouldn't doubt that he's busy with everything going on, everyone has that happen, but at the moment it looks more like he cut and run, at least until things cool down, rather than just pop in to post every so often.

how are they going to have it returned to them when it's already in Prof's hands? He ain't gonna ship it back, that's for sure.

From what he told me it's already shipped, he even included a photos of the UPS drop-off package receipt and more. There's more to it, but I guess people are mostly interested in the shipment to MD. I urged him to post here but he didn't (yet), which is why I'm posting this tidbit now.

I for one am disappointed that I won't get an assembled ErgoDox after all, and (it seems) all because of a communication failure between MD and TheProfosist. From my own experience with MD so far (most good, some bad), his story sounds credible. To be fair, there are 2 sides to every story, and I haven't heard their side yet.

BTW I just received this update from MD:
Quote
I know it seems like a big mess. I can assure you that once we heard about TheProfosist's inability to assemble the keyboards, we got them over here as fast as possible. The keyboards came in last night from TheProfosist, and I spent the entire night ensuring that everyone who ordered through him had their custom parts in order, as well as the basic assembly pieces as well. The packages are all now packaged up, with tracking numbers, and are being shipped. Please keep note that the tracking numbers may not work until they are registered in USPS's system.

I can assure you, Oliver, that the keyboards spent a maximum of around 12 hours at Massdrop (less had it not been in the night!) and the entire Massdrop team knew the situation that all of you had gone through with TheProfosist. We all worked together to make sure you did not have to wait any longer.

I hope that now, at least, the keyboard is on its way and will get to you very shortly.

so they won't be assembled for those people? that sucks....

MassDrop are really good people it seems, I think the only complaints about massdrop I've seen are from people who have never got anything from massdrop and are still *****ing about the sign up requirement. It is good to see they are attempting to resolve this the best they can.

My personal experience with MD when **** went down was a very positive one. They are surprisingly extremely customer oriented, and I'm not surprised they stepped in to make things good for this GB. I won't be surprised if MD paid for the shipping back to them too.

It does suck big time that the people who got in this service had to wait so long and still not receive an assembled kit though. And I would've signed up for it if I didn't already have a board to be done by WFD at the time, and decided to ask him to assemble my spare kit instead. I'm glad I did so, but I do feel for those participating in this, esp given this was from round 1 and peeps from round 2 have already gotten their kits up and running.

yeah I am very impressed on massdrop's service. They did everything they could to manage the Prof situation. I'm sure they had to pay for the shipping cost out of their own pocket from prof to massdrop and then delivery out again.

on a side note, that is a very nice looking ergodox.
