Hello!
« on: Mon, 28 January 2013, 23:18:43 »
Hi everyone,

I'm a hardware and software nerd, and I've wound up on this forum several times over the last few years. I appreciate nice keyboards, but I've never plunked down cash for a truly fancy one.. I grew up with Apple's alps keyboards, but now (I hate to say it) everything I own is membrane-based. Ack!

Anyway, I've been thinking about a project and I'm hoping I can pick some brains here. I'll start another thread for that; just sayin' "hi" here.

Welcome to GeekHack, and good luck on your search for the "right" keyboard... well you've definitely come to the right place anyway xD

matias makes the modern incarnation of the apple extended keyboards you used to love so much.. he even has a new version that gets rid of the clacky noise but keeps the clicky feel!

just saying :)

Welcome to Geekhack!

I hope your stay is a pleasant one.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hello and Welcome to Geekhack. Good luck finding the right board for you and getting something many times better than those awful membrane boards!
