[IC] Google Chrome Keycap group buy
« on: Mon, 11 February 2013, 21:14:38 »
Anyone know if someone has done a Goodle Chrome keycap group buy.

I have done some searching on a couple of boards and have not been able to find any. I think this would be a good idea but am not able to post it up in the interest check board.

That would be kinda cool.

I highly doubt Google would care to make them though.

Dyesub would probably be the best way.

What does a Google Chrome Keycap do?

How is it different from any other keycap?

It has the Google Chrome logo on it...it's like any other novelty keycap.

Trademarks are always an issue with ideas like this.  I'm doubtful SP would do it.

I would be down for a full set of Google Keycaps, in their signature colors, possibly with their font lettering.

Google would probably go for this and provide sets for all of their employees that want them.

Does anyone have the contacts to see if this is possible? That would be awesome!!!!

Yea sorry for not putting it in the interest check forum, but as stated I didn't have the rights to post it there.

Google could contract MKC to make a "3D" key in either aluminum or zinc, then have the key chrome plated. A chrome Chrome key!  ;D

Any progress on this or was this given up on?

If someone could make a mock up of what the key would look like, I was thinking logo on black, but please, post ideas

Continuing with this I emailed qwerkeys and talked to Dan he said that:

Quote
Yes this is possible ... they would be UV printed and there is an MOQ of 50 keys, We can print onto any colour, but for this I would recommend white or white translucent

prices are as follows
50+ =  £2 each

100+ = £1.50 each

200+ = £1.20 each

500+ = £1.00 each

thanks
Dan
Gave him a generic photo of the Chrome logo

EDIT:

Just emailed Google's Permissions team
gave me an estimated time of reply in the 2 week area

Now we sit and wait...

I'm liking this idea, chrome-chrome.
