$36 IBM Model F XT

^Was contemplating buying the above listed board and starting a Model F XT tour, but I figured I'd post it in the great finds section instead.  Someone snag it quick!  It's a great price for an excellent board that appears to be in great shape.

Done. Thanks for the chance to get in on this. I've been wanting to try a Model F.

Gone :(
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

Hehehe....no problem.  Go visit Soarer's thread and read up on his adapter!

Wow, $36 shipped? That's an excellent deal! My XT was about that. It came with the box, but is not in as good shape.

Enjoy the switch, Jdcarpe, but I still hate that layout. (Maybe I can use mine for gaming....) Model F's have the best switches I've tried by far.

Yeah, I really just want to try the capacitive buckling spring switches. I'll need to make a Soarer converter for it, and replace that coiled black XT cable with a coiled beige cable from a Cherry board.

Also, the layout should have been more like this:
KMAC :: LZ-GH :: WASD CODE :: WASD v2 :: GH60 :: Alps64 :: JD45 :: IBM Model M :: IBM 4704 "Pingmaster"

What you're saying is that you actually wanted a model F AT?
---

Bytheway, here are some good looking XT's currently in the "vintage' section of eBay. (unfortunately they are auction, so who knows what they'll go to?

They claim it's unused, and it certainly appears to be in good shape.

Almost... that's an AT with mostly possible extra keys, BUT there's two there that can't be added.

IMO, if you'd be happy with an un-modded AT, then you would be just as happy with a PC/XT... it's the moddability that distinguishes them. They are both great to type on, no doubt about that!
