What's a top-ten typist?
Top ten in the world on a computer keyboard. Don't roll eyes cause I'm not kidding. Blackburn, the record holder, was a court reporter, same as me; so I have extra motivation to break her 50-minute record, although Wrona is an absolute beast and unofficially did it at 170-something. Lots of typists can hit 170-plus on short, easy text on TypeRacer -- myself included -- and pump up their averages by selecting easy races, but only a few can stand up to competing -- Izzy, DeRoche, Chan, Mako, Olsen, etc. For serious competing I prefer the hardest, longest terminology possible, including medical. This doesn't equate to shiny WPM count, though, but real life isn't all three-letter words, and true speed comes from reading and spelling abilities. Accuracy is so much more important than speed. Topre really stands out in that respect.
