I saw this earlier.

It is not BIN.

These are going for at least $40-50 these days.

I went to a local (Virginia) ham radio swap meet last month, one of the vendors in the parking lot area had a crate with 6 or so Model M's.  Wanted $35 each for them, if I wanted a cable that would be extra*.  (Bear in mind, these were completely grubby units, looked like they'd been stored in a barn.)

Judging from Ebay sales and search terms, I think there's a lot of price inflation going on, with some really poor-quality boards posted with high set prices, maybe just to seed the market.  With Unicomp selling new models (in black!  with USB connections!) for $80-$100, I hope prices will stabilize somewhat as buyers do some research.  It's pretty chaotic to see what appear to be identical models on offer for $0.99 and $239.00, and every other seller listing their keyboards as "Vintage Clicky" models.

(*Told me; "...people who want these keyboards usually have the cable to connect it to their PC."  And then offered to sell me the cable for another $10.)

1390120 and 1390131 (made by IBM) are the good models. There are supposedly some old 1391401 (made by IBM, and 87 and 88 only?) that are good as well, but this is a 91.

Lexmark and Unicomp models aren't the same as an original IBM model (especially the older ones).

An SDL to USB cable is $30 on ebay. That's a pretty good price for what you're getting.

I like the old ones, too, but newer models are only marginally less desirable.

There is not much to justify a used Model M bringing significantly more than a new Unicomp, unless it is an unusual style.

The going rate for SDL-to-PS2 cables is $15 shipped, give or take. If you are going to spend $25-30 you should buy one of orihalcon's USB direct cables which are very nice.

$100 shipped is the most I have ever paid for a NIB model M. Orihalcon's SDL to USB cables were the ones I spoke of for $30, but even his $20 SDL to PS/2 cables would be recommended as they are nice straight ones.
