How did you open it? I have the 6gv2, presume they're pretty similar? I haven't attempted yet? Is it just a couple of screws?
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

Four screws on the back, then just stuck a butter knife in and went around it to pop the tabs or whatever they're called. Wasn't too difficult.
