Ducky Shine II TKL Noob
« on: Mon, 25 March 2013, 22:19:52 »
Hey guys, I'm new around here. I just purchased a Ducky Shine II TKL(just got here) and I'm new at this whole keycap thing. I wanna buy a full set for it (base/modifiers) however, I don't know what's the best quality/best fit for it. If anyone could help me I'd appreciate it. Money is not an issue, I have deep pockets, but of course also common sense.

not too many options for backlit keycaps, no one has yet to reproduce Deck quality of backlit keycaps..... sadly

I should've specified that backlit keys aren't an issue for me. I bought the Ducky Shine II more for the quality reviews I had seen of it rather than its backlight. Now, if anyone thinks it was a mistake, as in I should've gotten a Filco, I've thought about it and maybe that's the case. However I don't want backlit keycaps. :)

if money is not a problem then look for group buys for thick PBT dyesublimated keycaps, or double shots.

sherryton sells in his store original DS from Cherry toolings but has some issues with the website. Options for keycaps are limitless due to that you have keyboard tghat uses keycaps like the most of people do.

2 top choices: Thick PBT Dyesub or Cherry tooling double shots thick ABS

Here is a lil sample of mein Thick PBT dyesubs, sorry don't have them installed on my board cause the set came in with some broken keycaps and 1 missing keycap... but here is just a peak at them

Very nice! Do you have a preference between dyesub pbt and doubleshot abs? Which feels more rigid? I play SC2 so I'm really feeling my keys constantly.

material wise ABS is stronger plastic than ABS, but if you receive your PBT caps in good shape ( not like mein lol) PBT last longer than ABS in terms of they don't shine as fast as ABS. Most people preffer how PBT's feel on their finger tips etc etc. Either way you go, make sure they are thick, if PBT thick then make sure legends are dyesub, if double shots make sure they are thick also which cherry only makes thick ABS DS that I know of.

Alright sounds good. I think I'm gonna go with thick pbt dyesub, now... just to find a tenkeyless set. :)

Feng and Imsto sell them.
Feng on his ebay store (but you can ask him on Geekhack for cheaper I assume).
IMSTO you can PM.
