Hi,
The first time I ordered a mechanical keyboard (a noppoo choc mini mxred) i had to either order it from a chinese website or order it from a guy who lived there and he then sent it to me. (a very nice guy!!) Nevertheless, it still felt uncomfortable to just send someone on the other side of the globe paypall money and hope that he will send it! I think more people feel this way and they might not order one because of this. This way they will never feel the love and joy of typing on clouds of boobs. This gave me the idea to setup a webshop for mechanical keyboards (or maybe just reselling them from other dealers in china) but the best would be to order them from the source and maybe get a discount this way or something. Mails are still to be sent but im not sure how a big company would handle that.

TL;DR: some people in europe don't want to order from china so i want to start a webshop here because mech keyboards are gaining alot of popularity.

What keyboard models / brands would you think are most popular? but still kind of underground ;D (people wont buy a logitech mech keyboard from me because its available in most computerhardware stores here)

my list so far:

Majestouch
noppoo
filco
ducky

If you have any sugestions or know good suppliers, let me know!

I'm not destroying your hopes but most people here do not mind buying from china and the problem is you will have to charge higher prices to make it worth your while. Therefore you are preaching to a very small audience of PC lovers who are in fear of ordering from the other side of the world. Good Luck to you anyhow.
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

this is also why im asking ideas! You could be right. But I think the people here are allready in love with mech keyboards hence they dont mind ordering from china. But for the casual gamer who has never heard of it.. I'm still not sure of it though and will wait for more posts.

I think this guy already had that idea:

http://www.mechanicalkeyboards.com/

You should check out his vendor forum here (especially his posts, which reveal more than most vendors do).  It looks like a tough business:  Thin to non-existent margins and suppliers that are difficult (if not impossible) to deal with.

Although if you can make a better website than KeyboardCo you just might find your niche in Europe. :)

Instead of repeating what other people are already doing, but with (probably) higher prices and no accumulated trust, why not bring over things that we don't already get over here? Jaki, Easars, FlashGet, LBots, Aula, etc.

Start an unusual keyboard store. Sell things like ALPS switches, Topre switches, and maybe add a few Model M's to that. Custom keycap printing would also be nice, and you can also purchase from a preset design of keycaps.

i was also thinhking about this, like foxwolf says, selling the more rare and unique keyboards and parts + the custo keycaps just HAS to be in it because i realy like this aspect of mechanical keyboards (still havent found time to do it myself though :$) but i will have to learn alot in different key sizes, spacebars, key hights materials.. etc.

i searched alot before posting, and did notice that website! but prices are in dollars and pounds. Also i was thinking about making it specificly for  my country because there is only 1 other guy doing it here and he sells only 1 brand and is asking crazy prices. If i can do the same but for a cheaper price and have more brands for example there is a gaming forum here and there are alot of people trying to get noppoos and other tenkeyless boards but theres always the debate of getting it seccond hand or ordering from china. then after that i was planning to add different language options like spanish french and german and shipping international.

ive studied graphic design so the website should not be a big problem. and atm im working in the emarketing business (SEO for pornwebsites haha believei it or not)  so website wise i think im fine. but to make money i need to find a good niche market, and in my country mech keyboards is somewhat a good niche! I love them and have been typing on them for a year but only realised it's a good niche a few days back lol..

but i am still awaiting tips and ideas before i realy go trough with this. Only problem is i dont have the cash for an inventory so there will be a (~1week) delivery time on the first ~100 orders.

but thank you for pointing out these websites!

Perhaps try to get a exclusive deal with KBC...
Like: A Poker/Pure/Race with clears or greens and/or red/blue/whatever colored plastic trays (not painted tho)

Or think up something completely different, like this, or something else
Or try to talk Costar about a completely new keyboard made to you specs
Or try to offer something not available in mass yet, like wood/steel/glass/whatever trays or keycaps
...
