I have found in my experience (very little relatively speaking) that most mech keyboards are louder than your average rubber dome board. However there are certain things you can do to lower the volume of your keyboard. The most popular option would be rubber "O" rings. This will reduce that "clacky" sound but also reduce the travel of your keystroke and completely change the feel of your keyboard. Some people like them, others don't, its all preference. Since you are using a MacBook keyboard you are likely already accustomed to very little travel. Some have even said that switch stickers dampen the volume a bit though I have no experience with them yet. Nonetheless there is an abundant source of information within this forum and tons of great people always willing to help. As far as what board you should pick, just pick one. If you spend any amount of time on here you will own them all in no time. Enjoy your time on Geekhack!
