Hmm well maybe one of these days the NYC will happen again. I do have new audio gear, for those who are interested. But I haven't bought a single keyboard since my 55g realforce 87u :D

well right now i'd only have my poker to bring...which is very lame
if we wait some more time (which will most likely happen) i can bring like 5 more keyboards and a lot of caps

Well, give us your school schedule.  I guess we can do it during Canadian Thanksgiving, whenever that is.

@dubs:  $800 for a whole day to host 50 people in Manhattan (albeit Harlem) is an unbelievably low price.  It's a whole floor of a townhouse.  Also Sylvia's Soul Food Restaurant is like 3 blocks away.  Best chicken & waffles you will ever have.  We could even have lunch catered.  But, to split $800 among 5 or 6 people would be kind of high, I guess.

There are smaller places that we could rent.

Here is what we need:

1.  We need a firm date.
2.  Then we can set an RSVP date.
3.  Then we can put together a confirmed guest list.
4. Then we can find a place that fits our needs.  (A conference room for 10 people will be a lot cheaper than a townhouse for 50.)_
5. Then we tell people how much it will cost.
6.  Then we can send out invoices.

now that school is full throttle again for myself, thanksgiving break sounds like the best time for me as well.
I think we need an organized list of people who are seriously interested in coming, so we can get a realistic number, and then start hunting for a smart location based on that number.

But, to split $800 among 5 or 6 people would be kind of high, I guess.

that's totally what i was thinking about seeing the $800 price lol, but i agree with you.

I'd absolutely show up (especially over thanksgiving break, as I'm in school as well), and bring every keyboard I've got. It really depends on how much it costs though.

If this is over Thanksgiving break, there is a strong possibility I can show up. But there's no way we can get 50 people. Keycon only had 30 ish.

it boils down to unless someone wants to host it at their place, its gonna be difficult to find a location where we can all meet up and not disturb other people.

maybe see if we can rent a meeting room at a library or something, but then you get into having to pay to meet and some people won't wanna do that .

Just going to float this idea out: Matt3o is going to have an apartment for the next month in Manhattan. Seems like the perfect time to have this meetup. That is, if he's willing to host it.

+1

As long as it's not the size of a fridge, we should be OK. Some NYC apts can be tiny.

that tab in NYC will be ridiculous!
Friday night ran me $100 for 2 bars lol.

You wouldn't be allowed into the bar, you'd be chilling outside drinking your root beer and playing with your gh60
and the security guard would look at you funny

There are tons of bars and clubs that are 18 (or less) to enter in NYC. A few of them don't check ID's, but let's not worry about those.  ;)

Hmm... maybe change the thread title to [Meet-Up] NYC Meet-up Spring 2014 xD

If people feel like driving/taking the train all the way to Stony Brook University, there's space in my dorm for a meet.
