Rec'd my Pure 60% today! Pics
« on: Wed, 10 April 2013, 15:41:12 »
I am newish here to GH and arrived shortly after researching places to buy the noppo choc mini. Thanks to those around here I found a KB that much better suits my tastes, the KBT Pure 60%. Thankfully I didn't have to go far to buy one as Mechanical keyboards.com had them in stock. Anyways I got a black PBT non-LED with cherry MX Red switches. I also picked up some O Rings and will be installing them shortly.

First Impressions:

Lighter than I expected.
Love the reds.
Love PBT vs ABS.

Thanks! I love it. Question for you guys, what kind of stabilizer is that under the enter key? And what's the safest way to remove the key cap? I almost pulled one side of it out of the PCB trying to remove the cap :/ Did manage to get it back in place but am a little worriedabout removing the other key caps with stabilizers under them.

No need to be worried, because they are Cherry PCB mount stabilizers and not Costar stabilizers. I usually use a wire puller on one side to get it off one stab, then use something as a wedge on that same side to prevent it from mounting again all while using the wire puller on the other side to remove the cap.
I hope that makes sense :)

Edit - Oh and I use a spudger for the second part, but there are other things you can use.

Here's a pic just in case you wanted it. Jocelyn sniped me!

And I just rocked a wirepuller back and forth and pulled hard.

Congrats, I just got my first Pure this weekend as well.

So after work tonight (I could hardly wait to get home, what a geek I truly am) I rushed upstairs to finish installing the O rings onto my board. Had no trouble getting the other keys with stabilizers off this time as I was more careful and applied pressure evenly to both sides of key. Would have use a keypuller but had no trouble getting the keycaps off of my old steelseries 6gV2 without one so I figured this would be as easy. Loving the quiet muted thump that all the keys make now as opposed to the click clack of them bottoming out. I also think that my WPM has gone up as typing is more efficient when keys don't bottom out.

Found a basic diagram of all the functions on the PURE and thought it might be worthwhile to post here so I don't lose it :)
