Similar design to the KMAC2. That natural angle won't be cheap to produce. You need to start with block of aluminum, then mill out enough material to make that angle. So not only will it cost more in material, but also the milling time.
This design is pretty similar to Boost's/Acetrak's low profile case mockeup, and my 60% case without the top cover.
I of course haven't got quotes for this case since it's only a mock up, but when I was getting quotes for my TKL case I asked how much it would reduce the costs to make it flat out of curiosity. The guy said the materials would be about £30 cheaper and the machining would be £20 cheaper. £50 isn't too much to me, but of course if this were to be a truly budget case it would be flat w/ feet.
Also, this post wasn't to show off the case I've designed, more to see what people thought of the exposed plate design. Sorry for not making that clear in the OP.
I like the design but I had similar concerns as WFD. Plus I think the market is a bit over-saturated at the moment.
I agree that the market is very over saturated. Like I said in the OP I doubt this will ever happen, and even if it does I will probably only produce one for myself.
I really like the angle. Bummer that it makes it expensive.
You could just expose the plate like Matt3o project:

The plate could be exposed and it would lead to a truly cheap design, but for that little extra material/machining costs you get a much nicer look imo.
