Keyboard with increased keycap spacing or larger kecaps
« on: Tue, 30 April 2013, 10:14:32 »
Does this exist, I keep finding my self hitting adjacent keys. I have bigger hands, but not the biggest. I do like some RD keyboards that have larger keycaps and spacing between the keys. I tried searching, but I couldn't find any answers. Any advice or a nudge in the right direction would be appreciated :)

Also, you might considered a DSA cap set. They are all the same profile, and much shorter, thus end up being wider and probably easier to type on for you.

I did find info on the DSA cap set. Are there issues with them not being sculpted?

I did search oversized keyboard but I just got large lettering, rather than keycaps.

Those keycaps look much larger than normal to me. For instance, you can see the image of a guy's fingers over one of them.

DSA not being sculpted? How do you mean?

You could also just do a typing test throughout the day, it all comes down to muscle memory, if you don't like my scientific answer then i would say DSA caps are your best bet as far as I know.

They are not angled for each row. All of the keycaps have the same profile/angle to them.

That's right, they aren't. It's been said that the angle of them is unnecessary and dates to a time when they used to need that angle.

Thanks, I type all day long so I have the muscle memory. The top of the keycaps are just too small that my large finger ends up slipping off and hitting an adjacent key. I could try PBT keycaps because they typically have a rougher surface with more friction.

That's not necessarily true. My Klaxon set has a rougher texture than my Imsto Cherry caps right now. It depends on the mold more than the material.

I have a QFR and a Leopold TKL, have you used DSA's with any standard TKL? I think I missed out on the group buys, but I inquired about extra sets.

Bigger keys may be more of a hassle than you might think. You have probably built up a lot of muscle memory with the current keysizes. Changing those sizes and distances may be annoying.

Alternatively, you could go for a heavier or more tactile switch. Buy I imagine you have tried this already. Personally accidental keypresses are only an issue for me when I am using reds. I thought I would get used to it, but it remains a problem, and it is one of the reasons why I sold my board with reds.
