keyboards with left alt further to the right
« on: Thu, 02 May 2013, 20:10:32 »
I use alt in games a lot and am wondering if there are any nice quality keyboards with the alt key further to the right on the board ie. under x and c or further rather than under z and x.

would still need a winkey.

ty for any help

The Filco Minila has an extra Fn key to the left of the spacebar. You could hard rewire the Fn and Alt keys to swap them. Perhaps there are some other keyboards out there with a similar layout. JIS layout Topre is one, but I dunno if hardware modding Topre PCBs is possible. The Filco should be easy though.

hmm, I've seen some with far less radical design changes, but like I've said I've never bothered writing them down

Is there really nothing in its class without the insane changes in overall structure? a normal enter, us layout, normal shifts would be glorious...

More to the right by how much cause if you want it for gaming id say just look at something like the orbweaver but if u want a standard keyboard a JIS layout would give you a smaller spacebar and 2 extra keys next to it...

7bit Phantom?

I have a original plate for one of those if you need one heck I even have an extra set of caps with my original Phantom layout. I hated the thing to death (might have been the 4 spacebars) but some people liked it, if your one of them I applaud you for not smashing the board to bit which I nearly did multiple times.

The Noppoo Choc Mini is slightly more towards the right, but not much.  Downsides are custom keycaps are hard to come by.  I have the board and like it, but there are probably some better alternatives for a little more money.
